Ross warns new owner will move team without renovations

“If I sell the team, I can assure you, with the viewpoint of the politicians and what they want to do, the new owner is going to move the team,” Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said. Ross wants relief from about $4 million in yearly property taxes in exchange for privately financing a $350 million stadium renovation.

Wait a second, Ross has another owner lined up? Hell ****ing yes! Sell the team to them, sell it now!

...or is this another lie? You know, like the "i cant afford the renovations" thing? Dont you play with my heart Stephen Ross, the team you run already dashes my hopes every few months.

This is not a new statement by Ross. People should not be shocked.

He's had offers, I know that for a fact. As far as I know, he has refused to even entertain any of them. But he's had at least one serious offer for sure.

Guys every single professional team in the state of Florida gets this tax break!!! What you need to ask all the elected officials in your area is why do you have to rely on a professional football team to subsidize education and libraries! Lets say the dolphins are sold and move! You lose it anyway! Our politicians should not be relying on a professional sports team to fund education!

Ross and the owners already screwed the players in order to line their pockets, and now he wants to screw the city.

I know past franchises in South Florida have gotten breaks, but with the money the NFL makes and the shi* the city is in financially, I dont like him asking for it. He pays it, he owns a more valuable franchise. Thats how it should be.

Its a lot of money he wants taken out of the schools and services of Miami Gardens.

:(

Now thats unfortunate, was hoping he had a definitive deal on the table such as Huizenga did at the end, though those negotiations can happen fairly quickly if he decides to get serious about it. I cant help but hope that he isnt bluffing and this would be the straw the broke the camels back. Then again, investing hope in this franchise never turns out well.

Its called taxes. We all pay them. Rich people shouldn't be excluded. Its what pays for the services we all rely on.

Im sure a stadium would run great without police.

Greed is running wild these days......all of the major sports teams should have to pay property taxes or a fee for each ticket sold should go to the city the stadium is in, no free bees for billionaires the NFL already has tax exempt status (which is another argument we should have)

Of course you're right ... that's the American way. Coincidently, so is selling your franchise to the highest bidder, who then moves 100% of said revenue streams elsewhere to a location where he/she receives the best financial situation ... because that also is the American way.

Be careful what you wish for ... you just might get it.

These renovations would be a disaster for Miami. Lipstick on a pig is all it will be. The design of the stadium is so flawed and outdated that no amount of money can correct it. The location is also terrible. Ross's age is the biggest factor. He doesn't feel like he can play the long game so he is trying to force a flawed plan on the Dolphins and saddling us with a terrible stadium for the next couple decades. I would love a new owner. Miami is not relocating and a new younger owner may immediately realize how awful Sun Life is and begin laying out a plan for a modern stadium in a better location.

It really would be a lot easier to take the team elsewhere. Dolphins situation really is a unique one in the NFL that a lot of owners might not want to deal with, especially with a hostile fanbase.

If there is a new stadium its not going to be in Miami. The city already gifted a billion dollar stadium to a lying crook, not to mention they also own the Miami Heat stadium.

But you are right about renovations, it would be better for them to just build a new one, possibly across from the current stadium to keep the location.

Move the team to orlando and become the Orlando Mickey Mouses. I am sure disney would LOVE all the marketing.

I would love to see Ross purchase the land that is adjacent to the Pompano Air port.
It is closer to the ocean and I95 and the turnpike have existing exits nearby.

Ross needs not worry about what other owners will or will not do. He needs to worry about making the Dolphins relevant again.
