The following is my current depth chart and it highlights what roster positions are actually up for grabs with a lot of competition

QB - Cleo Lemon / John Beck / Daunte Culpepper
RB - Ronnie Brown
FB - Cory Schlesinger / Reagan Mauia
WR - Chris Chamber
WR - Marty Booker / Derek Hagan
WR - Az-Zahir Hakim / Ted Ginn JR
TE - David Martin
LT - Vernon Carey
LG - Chris Liwienski / Tala Esera
C - Samson Satele
RG - Rex Hadnot
RT - L.J. Shelton

LE - Matt Roth
NT - Keith Traylor / Paul Soliai
DT - Vonnie Holiday / Rodrique Wright
OE - Jason Taylor
SLB - Joey Porter
ILB - Zach Thomas
WLB - Channing Crowder
CB - Travis Daniels / Jason Allen
SS - Yeremiah Bell
FS - Renaldo Hill
CB - Will Allen / Andre Goodman

Quarterback, Wide Receiver, Guard, Def Tackle and Corner Back

Quarterback
This is probably the most widely talked about position on our team. Everyone has a different scenario. Trent Green is most likely but least anticipated. Daunte Culpepper is the true fans biggest interest because of all the potential that we never saw. John Beck is the future and Cleo Lemon is the dark horse in it all. I personally would like no Trent Green. Mainly because I want these three quarterbacks to get all the snaps in practice so we can determine Lemon's worth, Beck's strengths/weaknesses and Culpeppers chance at playing again. I'd like to get Cleo into position for week 1 and if by week 4 or 5 Daunte is healthy is Cleo hasn't done anything special get Daunte behind center. If by the end of the season we have found no chemistry then let Beck play a game in week 15, 16 and prepare for the future while confidently letting Daunte go. Because if we release Daunte and he goes to Atlanta, Oakland, Baltimore, somewhere and just lights it up, I will be outraged with our personel's decision.

Wide Receiver
The biggest questions at Wide Receiver are; Marty Booker's roster spot, Derek Hagan's progress, Ted Ginn's injury and the value of both Kelly Campbell and Az-Hakim. I look forward to the day that Chambers, Hagan, and Ginn all start together. It reminds me of St Louis when Az-Hakim was in his prime.

Guard. (left-guard)
I'd like to grab Pete Kendall if possible.

Def Tackle.
The interesting thing about our tackle position is that we're strong. So why the interest? We have two veteran starters and two highly scouted young back up's. When will the transition begin?

Cornerback
Outside of Quarterback position being so controversial. This is our weakest position on the team. If Jason Allen develops into a legit starter that may all change. If not you can count on next years number 1 pick being an OG or a CB for sure!

Looks good except I don't think Hakim will make the team, Porter will probably be an OLB and Crowder will move back to a MLB spot where he played in college, and I see Jason Allen starting.

You mean the potential for him to lead 8-8 seasons when he is at the top of his game???? I'll pass. Come to think of it we know he wont pass(the football that is, probably not a physical either).

Lemon's worth = clip board holder. Lemon is also very nice to add to a glass of ice water. I hate restaurants that dont do that.

For us his chance is 0.

So in other words you wouldnt mind losing a bunch of games this year. HMMMM. Run that buy Zach and JT. See how they feel about that considering they have dominated for years and have nothing to show for it. I think they are tired of losing games thanks to the offense.

Culpepper wont light anything up this year unless he hangs out Ricky style.

However I will say this about Culpepper. I dont doubt that its possible if he lands in St. Louis he could hang out and ride a bike for a year. If he were to regain his mobility its quite possible since Bulger is in his last year of a contract that they start Culpepper in 08. I will say its possible that he could once again be a DECENT QB under Linehan. That is if he regains his mobility. Could be a good fit for them. Possible he could have big stats with a bunch of turnovers(in other words be the old Daunte you guys speak of) and lead them to 8-8 season while throwing for near MVP numbers. Possible.

Listen the guy used to light it up in the fantasy world. I never dismissed that fact. He could maybe do it again in the right situation if he gets that knee close to what it once was.

He will never be a good fit for the phins though now that we have Cam. We need a prototypical pocket passer. Cam is making the right move going with Green till Beck is ready. Its the best move for the phins no matter what Daunte ever does again.

You might be right. The possibility of him being a starter is obviously alot less likely. However, we've invested alot in him. I'm tired of being the franchise that bails on everything within a years notice. If you want to put together a winning franchise you do it from the ground up and you dont waste money and draft picks. Thats what will happen if we go snag Trent Green. We're about to splurge and give up a 5th round pick for an over aged QB who is about to be CUT. No more AJ Feeley, Lamar Gordon moves. I'm tired of it.

Lets continue to build from the ground up. No more washed up overpaid moves that start to make me question our coaches ability to work with our GM and make business maneuvers and instead of some sort of personal obligation to a friend (Ted Ginn, Trent Green, Gibran Hamden)

I'm not saying Daunte Culpepper will turn this franchise around let alone be a great fit. But i'd rather work with the quarterbacks we have (the millions invested) then bring in Trent Green for a year at best.

Im glad despite that I know sometimes I can come off as obnoxious in a text format, that someone can realize from time to time I know what Im talking about. Especially when it comes to the phins. If its about the Phins, Mets, Math, or poker generally I am right as those are my 4 biggest passions in life outside of family and friends and have a ton of knowledge on the subjects.

So if you buy some lunch meat and discover its bad after eating it, do you continue to keep it in the fridge and make sandwiches with it? Or better yet say you purchase a large investment like a house or something and there is no return policy or way to undo your purchace. You then discover it has absolutely no value or use to you. Dont you get another one? In other words we already lost that 2nd round pick and a bunch of money last year. We need to cut our losses and move on. We cant get any of it back so why sink more into the problem?

We are doing it from the ground up. Sometimes you have to move some things off the foundation and add some scraps. This team will be successful before you know it. Like this year.

Ok well (and I'm somewhat joking, but) I look at the Daunte Culpepper situation (in poker terms for you) as being Pot Committed in a hand where you had flopped two of a kind and bet hard on it, however now on the river theirs a 4-card flush draw sitting on the board. You only have a 5 high flush and have to call an all in bet. Chances are your flush just isnt strong enough (Daunte Culpepper's knee) but you're committed and its more than 4 on your money if you win (Daunte's 100% pro-bowl numbers). So you can fold (saving a little bit of money and a roster spot.) or you can make the gutsy call and see if your 5 high flush will hold up. The outcome far outweighs the in-put and you're pot committed. So you keep Daunte because it pays more to keep him them drop him.

So anyone who doesn't have a hard on for Culpepper is not a true fan?

Culpepper has seen his best days. Forget about him. Someone within the Dolphins organization must know something because they seem pretty bent on getting someone to replace him. Oh yeah, Cam Cameron and company must not be true fans either. Otherwise, they wouldn't even give thought to replacing him. It's pretty crazy for Huizenga to have hired someone to coach his team that isn't even going to be a true fan.
