Matt Roth is also in the last year of his contract and would like to sign a long term extension with the Dolphins before the season.
Will Allen of the Dolphins is excited to be in the last year of his contract and is hopeful of signing an extension to remain in Miami.
Both from Drew Rosenhaus' Twitter account http://twitter.com/RosenhausSports..

I think both have to wait and see how they (and others on their posito) play in '09 and then they'll get contract offers..
Roth must prove that he got better in the 2nd year playing OLB and Allen must wait how Smith and Davis come along, imo..

roth could walk but we need allen

yeah maybe roth can come back, but i can't really imagine a scenario where allen comes back he'll want #1 corner money
I doubt that. He may want what Goodman received from Denver but I think Will knows he won't get that kind of money from Miami and will have to do what Vernon Carey and Channing Crowder did. Take less money for fewer years than they would have received elsewhere.

i think Will Allen is one of the most under-apprecciated players on our team...he always plays, and always produces...he even made a few picks this year

Matt Roth doesn't know that he is going to be a restricted free agent.

jeff ireland: " matt, i'm offering you a two year deal, we'll pay you the amount necessary to get that ugly flame tattoo you've got on your arm, deal ?"

I must respectfully disagree, he gets alot more hype and love then he deserves. The guy might have moments here and there. But more often then not, he is out of coverage constantly, hits like a girl. And dont even get me started how he is constantly "Slipping".

I say goodbye and goodriddance! Wish we had goodman instead of him this year.

lol, that's so true Chubbs - now that I think of it, he's always slipping...

It is absolutely astonishing to me how little love Will Allen gets. He had a career year last season, and, sometimes seemed like the only Miami corner interested in playing football. He's the only proven starting caliber CB on the team right now and people just sort of blow him off because we got two unproven rookie CBs on the team now.

we really need both guys.

Roth has alot of upside i think, he could get signed for more money as a starter somewhere. Fact is he'll be a situational SOLB this year, Wake will take the SOLB job opposite of Porter in pass rushing downs..

Will Allen, although now over the Hill, he's really a great CB, and quietly was our best last season. I know Goodman was playing better at the end of the year, but Allen is consistant and i hope he stays around, he's a good role model for vontae as far as character goes.

I don't want to lose Roth's energy, but i know the position can be upgraded. However i wish Roth the best in his second year of OLB, who knows maybe Roth plays so good, he keeps his starting spot and they resign him longterm to keep Wake/Roth/Porter, which aren't bad LBs for this year.
