According to WQAM, Roth is not at practice today. At least not out on the field where he has been. If he has in fact lied to Sparano and company he could be in serious hot water. It has been mentioned that the players all sign a statement that they are not sick and otherwise healthy when they report to camp. Sparano said Roth signed his like every one else. Sparano was clearly agitated yesterday at the post practice presser. I don't think they will make an example of him because he is the best we have at setting the edge, especially on the strong side, but this, on the face of it, doesn't sound good for Roth.:ponder:

It's up to Roth whether this escalates or gets resolved. But it won't be without severe discomfort for him either way.

Add this to whatever's going on with him health-wise...

If it's a groin issue that he didnt want to disclose bc he is affraid of losing his job to JT, I guess I can kind of understand that...but either way it would be dumb to lie about it.

The thing that worries me is this groin issue has been going on for 2 yrs now.

I agree. I am certain that players will try and hide a minor injury from the staff, I have heard that from former players before. Most of those were guys on the bubble though and Roth clearly is not.

Not on the bubble, but he is competing to be a starter.

If it comes to pass that he really did lie, he better get his checkbook ready to make a contribution to the Trifecta Fund.

Roth is not that good of a player and i think we can find other players. I dont dislike the guy ,it is just i think he has been overrated just like Jason Allen.. i dont think anything will happen to him regardless if he lied or not.

dont you guys remember when Eddie moore got his but whipped at Ihop and he said he was beaten up up by two kungfu guys when it was a non athletic man.

Do not agitate the Sparano!

But seriously, they don't need distractions like this. If it comes down to starting Wake vs Roth, and they're dead even, I'd start the guy that didn't piss me off.

This whole situation is kind of weird and seems totally out of character for all parties concerned – except Drew “I’m a freaken ALL World maven star sports agent celebrity and better looking than Brad Pitt” Rosenhorse.

This may turn out to be the Sparano’s 1st “crisis” and IMO he’ll cut Roth loose if there’s any question regarding his honesty to the team and/or his commitment. I hope that’s not where this is going but there’s no way Parcells and Co. is going to let this drag on...

here's what i had to say in the VIP section yesterday...:

I have a feeling there's something eerie here...

i know it's just speculations (i'm not funding my thoughts on any reports here... ) but there might be a trade in works for roth, and keeping him out of TC is a way to keep him healthy...

just a thought, i've seen it happen before. The fact that the FO and rosenhaus aren't saying the same thing only justify my thesis. If roth wants to stay in miami he must've told his agent to do something, so how do you want to trade an injured player ? that could be the reason why drew told he was still injured

another factor to consider is the attempt to sign roth to an extension.... it's real hard to trade a guy with a year left on his contract, if he has 2-3 years you got a shot but 1 year is a LOT harder. Besides, is there really a reason why we would like to re-sign roth before the season ? crowder, bell, carey, amongst others, didn't get one until the very end of their contracts, why act differently for a player like roth who, IMO, is not a pillar of this team ? curious isn't it ?

PUUUUUUUUUUUUUURE speculation, but when you combine all those events, put'em in perspective, the trade scenario seems very likely... just my opinion..

and now, this ? roth not at practice at all ? even more suspicious .... !

I doubt the above because its way too messy of a plan

You're comparing Roth to Jason Allen. Roth started 14 games last year at a new position and had 5 sacks. He also is excellent against the run. Jason Allen can't even sniff the field except to run down the field in ST coverage.

Very bad comparison.
