The Dolphins are raving about John Beck's offseason work ethic.
"I guarantee it, nobody in the league has worked any harder than John Beck," offensive coordinator Dan Henning said. "He has thrown somewhere in the neighborhood between 6,000 and 7,000 balls." Beck added 11 lbs in the spring and raised his release point. While offseason work can only prove so much, Beck has certainly raised his value to the new coaching staff. He's our favorite to start.

The Sun Sentinel article they cite is here:

Work ethic and dedication have nothing to do with success. Oh wait a second. That's right, they do!

I'm rooting for the kid because he is everything you want a leader to be!

I think you could say many of the same things about any of our qb's

You have to agree it lends some crediability when it comes from the offensive cordinators mouth!

They asked him about Beck, if they had asked about another qb who knows what they would say. I think beck is a fine man with a good work ethic too I just dont think he has done enough to be the favorite at this point. So if asked about McCown he would say he works less hard. I see alot of this as coachspeak. They probably like all three qb's.

When you put it like that your right, but I do agree with Captain Lou on Beck.

Like what?

Henne is a great leader, a fast learner whatever cliche you want.

Ireland said this when he drafted him

He's a four-year starter at the University of Michigan -- I like that. He's a great leader. He's got an aura about him that you like about a quarterback."

That has nothing to do with what the coaches were talking about in their interview about Beck. You claim the information could have been about any of the QB's, I argue it couldn't.

Im a big Beck fan, but I wouldnt read into what Lee said as Beck being a favorite to start. Its way to early to declare that. I think we all know that Beck has worked his arse off this off season, but whether or not it makes a difference is still to be seen.

I was referring to if any of the coaches were asked about any of our three qb's not who it was said about.

find the whole article (it is the sun-sentinel article referenced above). They went through all the QBs, and that was said about Beck. He commented on all the QBs, but the comments were all different.

He said that Henne was unflappable, and that McCown was a natural leader, and that Beck works harder than anyone.

It also said this which derides the belief that Beck and McCown are so far ahead of him if you are to believe the article.

While Beck works on fine-tuning his technique, coaches say Henne isn't that far behind. After working through mental errors in rookie camp, the four-year starter at Michigan appeared much more composed Friday, according to Lee.

"He has not gotten lost. I thought he was going to and he hasn't," Lee said.

"I think if there's one thing that strikes me about this kid, one word, he's just unflappable. You chew him out, 'What's the next play.' He takes criticism, 'You got it Coach, give me another one.' There's no sense of throwing anybody else under the bus. There are no excuses with him. He's tough."

Also actually the title of this thread is misleading because Beck is rotoworld's favorite to start not necessarily the dolphins favorite at this point. doesn't matter but it is quite misleading

Not to say the other QBs haven't worked hard, but I think the coaches know that Beck has worked harder than the other two, although they never said that Beck was the favorite to start. All that was said was that they don't think another QB in the league has worked harder than Beck this offseason and I think that is true.
