Look, I'm a reporter for a local paper in an area that I just moved to six months ago. I get people coming up to me every now and then that have comments like "you don't provide favorable coverage" or "you don't say anything nice" or "you give so-and-so school better coverage than you give us."
It's really not how you think. I promise you. I have people telling me this on articles I write, when I have literally zero need or desire to favor one school or one team over another. I just report on what happened during a game and people accuse me of being unfavorable or not liking a school or whatever.
One of my sentences read "it only took one run for East to defeat West ... " and I had someone come up to me saying that I wrote that "blah blah blah, they ONLY scored one run, blah blah" like I was trying to short change them or sneak a shot in at them.
