Clinton Portis - RB - Redskins

Free agent RB Clinton Portis worked out for the Dolphins Tuesday, a source tells ProFootballTalk.com.

The Dolphins are likely just kicking the tires here to see where Portis is at. Reports out of Boston last week indicated that Portis showed up to his Patriots workout out of shape. Although Daniel Thomas has been a major disappointment this preseason, he's obviously not losing his job to a broken down Portis.

"Although Daniel Thomas has been a major disappointment this preseason"

God Rotoworld is terrible...

I said this in another thread but again - rotoworld is based out of Massachusetts and they're all huge Red Sox/ Pats homers... The site is good for info they are usually on point, but that **** gets really annoying

thomas has not been a dissappointement, hes done a great job so far.

A rookie with a total of 2 weeks of practice before the first game where he got no help from his line, then turns it on game two and scores is a major disappointment? I never liked Rotoworld to begin with, but after this crap I hate them even more. A bunch of homers.

Its been two games. the other thing we have been doing is running slow power o plays. Teams have been hitting him in the backfield. He has shown when he has daylight he takes advantage of it.

He hasn't been a major disappointment. Perhaps he is not where they hoped he would be at this point, but he is far from a major disappointment. He will still get a lot of carries this year and I expect he will be in the running for offensive rookie of the year.

imo, it's speculation on why the Dolphins would be looking at Portis. they were looking for a vet before the games began, and if anyone, Sheets was the "major" dissapointment

God the reporting this offeason/preseason has just been awful. I think it may have always been that way, but Brett Favre has distracted us the last few years and alot of it goes unnoticed. Without that fiasco going on, you really see how ****ty these reporters are.

I'd love to know what they are basing that opinion on. The only "disappointment" that warrants bringing another vet in is the lack of depth at the position.
