This is who I'd like to see the Fins draft in Round 2...

ROUND 2 (40) - QB Drew Stanton, Michigan St
Here is something you might not know about Drew Stanton: He rushed for over 1500 yards and 15 TDs while at Michigan St, making him the perfect backup for Culpepper.

And Stanton can make every throw an NFL quarterback needs to make. Despite a poor senior season, most scouts consider Stanton the third best prospect at QB in this year's draft. Yet nobody has him rated above 50, which means he should be there when the Fins pick at 40. But if Stanton is gone, here are some other players to consider:

ILB Brandon Siler, Florida
CB Jonathan Wade, Tennessee
OG Arron Sears, Tennessee
DE Charles Johnson, Georgia
S Michael Griffin, Texas
RB Michael Bush, Louisville
LT Joe Staley, Central Michigan
OG Justin Blalock, Texas
OLB Jon Beason, Miami
CB Daymeion Hughes, Cal
WR Sidney Rice, South Carolina
WR Craig Davis, LSU
WR Anthony Gonzalez, Ohio St
WR Steve Smith, USC
DE Ikaika Alama-Francis, Hawaii
LT Tony Ugoh, Arkansas
CB Marcus McCauley, Fresno St
RB Tony Hunt, Penn St
RB Kenny Irons, Auburn
DT Tank Tyler, North Carolina St
DE Quentin Moses, Georgia
OG Manuel Ramirez, Texas Tech

What do you say FinHeaven? Who do you like at 40?

ROUND 2 (60) - CB Josh Wilson, Maryland
Very fast. Ran a 4.39 40 at the combine. While he doesn't rack up a lot of INTs, Wilson is that lockdown corner we're looking for. Also a tremendous return man, which we need now that Welker is gone.

If Wilson is off the board, here are some other possibilities:

DT Tank Tyler, North Carolina St
DE Quentin Moses, Georgia
OG Manuel Ramirez, Texas Tech
WR Jason Hill, Washington St
DE Victor Abiamiri, Notre Dame
CB David Irons, Auburn
C Samson Satele, Hawaii
ILB David Harris, Michigan
WR Johnnie Lee Higgins, Texas-El Paso

Daymeion Hughes is a zone CB, thus not a fit for Miami. I'd take John Beck with the Pats pick in R2.

Khalil or one of the LTs for the 40th, Higgins for the 60th

As far as QB go with Kolb in 3rd or 4th, or Palmer in 5 or 6 (thst's if Quinn doesn't drop to us).

Yeah, I don't like Hughes either. Especially when you consider his teammate, Tim Mixon, could turn out to be the better pro. But there's a good chance he'll be there when we pick in the 2nd. Sounds like he doesn't fit into our scheme, so hopefully we'll pass.

Thanks for the info, Boomer.

Id love to see Staley, Sears, or Ben Grubbs for 40 but that probably wont happen so Stanton, Blalock, Rice, Ugoh, or Marcus McCauley would be fine.
Samson would be nice at 60.

I'd rather see us take Staley, Rice, Griffin, or Sears over Stanton for our 40. If Staley is available at our spot and we didn't draft Levi Brown (who I think has less upside than Staley anyways), we have to take him. Staley's got mad upside and could be a franchise LT if he bulks up. Rice I like because he really reminds me of a Chad Johnson kind of receiver or a Calvin Johnson-lite. Stanton's a real boom or bust kind of guy and if he repeats his senior year in the pros, he'll be lucky to taste CFL. He may be the 3rd best QB prospect in this draft but in any other draft like say last year's, he'd rate a 5th round or below prospect.

For our 60, I could go with Mozes, Satele, or Harris. Satele preferably since Kalil will likely be gone. But if we could, I'd like to see us maybe offering this pick up for grabs to move up in case CJ or Quinn drop to a nice tradeable spot.

You've got Mozes rated way too high. 7th round. 6th at best.

If we don't get Levi Brown, then Staley is a no-brainer. But he probably won't be there at 40. Detroit, Cleveland, TB, AZ, and maybe even Oakland and Houston are all in need of a Left Tackle.

In fact, if we don't get Levi Brown in the 1st round, we probably won't have a shot at Staley OR Tony Ugoh. If that happens, then say hello to Ryan Harris in the 3rd or 4th round.

Rice would be great. But Stanton fills a much bigger need. Unless you're happy with Cleo Lemon.

Is Griffin a guaranteed upgrade over Jason Allen?

Sears is a qualilty pick. But I don't see us taking a Guard on day one no matter who is on the board. I'd be curious to know what Boomer thinks about it, though.

I meant Quentin Moses, which you've listed in your original post, that I could deal with if we got him at where you place him at.

If we pass on Brown, you could see a domino effect that lands Staley or Ugoh at our spot at 40.

I don't think Stanton will necessarily successfully fill that bigger need. He's way too hit or miss to be relied upon and I don't think he's worth the 40th pick. If he's still hanging around at 60, then maybe. That said, I am impartial towards Michigan State as a lot of my relatives are alums but Stanton is just too big of a questionmark for me. If he weren't so hyped up in a weak QB class, I'd be happy if we landed him in the 4th where Edwards (who I absolutely don't want to see us getting or Kolb). Rice would be a much more valuable guy here.

Griffin is a maybe but he comes from a long line of quality Texas defensive backs, meaning his odds are quite favorable.

Sears may be a decent pick if all the top OL are gone.

Fair enough. Good points all.

Sidney Rice is even slower than Derek Hagan. I thought MIA was looking for "speed" at WR?

In the 2nd round? Hmm. I'd wait a few picks later at #71 in the 3rd. This way we use that #60 pick on either a speedy WR or another C/G.

I'm hoping for a draft like this...
1-Ginn
2-Stanton
2-Satele....if Blaylock,Kalil and Grubbs are all gone plus all the good corners are gone too.

Ozzy rules!!
