I know I've posted this thread before a few months ago, but with JT gone and a question mark for the pass rush, when I saw this article it made me think of it again.

" Gil Brandt, who spent 29 years helping build the Dallas Cowboys from expansion franchise into consistent winner, speculated Tuesday that Roy Williams, the Cowboys' Pro Bowl safety, could be released if he doesn't play better in camp. He noted that Williams, who never was good in coverage (especially against Shockey), always seems to be on his man but rarely makes a play."

If we picked him up, obviously it would be a project, but I think eventually he could be a pass rushing and sacking force. Any thoughts?

we should do a blockbuster trade including GLENN and Roy Williams. that would be sweet.

i would love it i think he would pan out. how would we get him though.
There's a lot of speculation that he could be released. It is, of course, speculation though.

really any player released from Dallas, miami will likely sign. what about takeo spikes ill sign him too

I would sign roy but I wouldnt make him an olb. Maybe if this was 2002 or 2003 i'd say he'd be a good fit at olb and a good project but after playing in the league for 6 years(this will be his 7th) its a little late for a position change. At this point he is what he is, of course working on some ins and outs of his game but totally changing it would be a bad move and something he shouldnt do.

I think it could work. Mike Vrabel made the transition from DE to LB fairly late in his career. Plus, Roy plays like an LB as it is. Parcells said that he was a "biscuit short of being a linebacker".

He's very weak in coverage so he certainly shouldn't be playing safety. His hitting skills are terrific and if he bulks up a little bit i'd consider sticking him at OLB, especially with his familiarity with some of our coaches and front office personnel. Depending on how much he costs i'd trade for him.

The idea isn't that far-fetched. Although, if this is the plan, I wouldn't give up anything for him in a trade. I would only attempt such an experiment if we could get him off the street after a release.

I would take him here. Another player to watch out for is Greg Ellis.

yep, if greg ellis gets released he'll be a dolphin.

i would take a flier on roy w as a pass rush type specialist if he was released. no way i'd take that contract or bring him in at safety.

Yea, That would be a good un. A old WR that can't stay healthy and a saftey that can't cover. You could have been Wrongstst's GM.

That's what I meant. He already plays like an LB. If he could bulk up a little he could be crazy at OLB. He's a ridiculously hard hitter.
