Predator in the Water
My buddy whom is a cowboys fan says he plays very wreckless. He says it seems he has the tendency to hit with his eyes closed.
No surprise he doesn't fit their defensive scheme. Most schemes do require the safety to cover someone every now and again. Check any Dallas fan site and they would dance the jig to get rid of him after watching him get burned time after time.
Roy Williams is one of my favorite defensive players in the league, right next to Nnamdi. I think it would be amazing if we could pick him up. He is a bit overrated but he's obviously proven much better than any talent we have there and is a great step for our defense. I don't see this happening though.
Ren said:I live in Dallas, and am married to a Dallas fan. That means that, unfortunately, I have to watch them play every week. I also listen to the local sports radio stations (where's Greggo), and have a bunch of buddies who are diehard Cowpoke fans whom I talk to every day.
I can tell you that Roy Williams does one thing, and one thing well - hit hard. He does not tackle well, as he does not know how to wrap people up, always going for the big hit instead. He can't cover the ground he walks on, and any team that plays against the Cows line up three and four receivers to find ways to get 1-on-1 matchups with him. His "smarts" have been questioned, as he constantly takes poor angles, is often out of position, and continues to get penalized for an infraction that was created because of him.
Bottom line - if you want a saftey who can blitz, hurt someone, play at the line and nothing more, than Williams is your guy. If you want a safety that will improve your secondary, then you best look elsewhere.
I'll just quote myself here from this post: http://www.finheaven.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1062278550&postcount=20
Maybe if he puts on twenty pounds and makes the switch to linebacker, which is basically what he is now.
No thanks.
Good in the box but that is about it.
