Roy Williams is not fitting in Dallas's new

My buddy whom is a cowboys fan says he plays very wreckless. He says it seems he has the tendency to hit with his eyes closed.

He should play LB haha since he can't cover for crap

I honestly don't know how Roy Williams has fallen off so far in so long but in all honesty he can't be as bad as everyone makes him out to be. I think if he got cut he would be motivated enough to prove everyone wrong and that he can still play.

No surprise he doesn't fit their defensive scheme. Most schemes do require the safety to cover someone every now and again. Check any Dallas fan site and they would dance the jig to get rid of him after watching him get burned time after time.

Your absolutely right, Roy is done...He just had an article that said he "hoped" the ball didn't get thrown his way during passing plays:lol: What kind of playmaker in the secondary thinks like that, would Kerry Rhodes hope the ball doesn't get thrown his way or would he be wishing it was thrown his way to he could make a play...If we end up starting him, we will struggle point blank, and honestly and seriously, if we could manage a 6th rd pick, or a serviceable player at another position of need I'd take that deal and run...Maybe some team wants him and props to Jerry if he could find a way to get a 4th or 5th, I just don't want him starting, and cutting him at this point sounds fine.

Now, I will say he could turn his career around at some point, but he needs a change of scenery and defense...It's not going to work out here in Dallas and its obvious he wants out anyway.

He just can't cover and is a boarder line dirty player with the horse collar tackles. If he can't fit in dallas' 3-4 how can he fit in ours. We don't have the talent to hide him in pass coverage. Dallas has a good pass rush and they can't hide him at all. He should add some weight/muscle and drop down to a MLB.

Roy Williams is one of my favorite defensive players in the league, right next to Nnamdi. I think it would be amazing if we could pick him up. He is a bit overrated but he's obviously proven much better than any talent we have there and is a great step for our defense. I don't see this happening though.

You are dead wrong. He is a HUGE liability in pass coverage. He is not as good as our top 4 safeties in terms of pass coverage.
You judge him based on his inflated reputation. He is a physical strong safety who is only effective playing in the box. He CANNOT play in space.

I'll just quote myself here from this post: http://www.finheaven.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1062278550&postcount=20

I live in Dallas, and am married to a Dallas fan. That means that, unfortunately, I have to watch them play every week. I also listen to the local sports radio stations (where's Greggo ;)), and have a bunch of buddies who are diehard Cowpoke fans whom I talk to every day.

I can tell you that Roy Williams does one thing, and one thing well - hit hard. He does not tackle well, as he does not know how to wrap people up, always going for the big hit instead. He can't cover the ground he walks on, and any team that plays against the Cows line up three and four receivers to find ways to get 1-on-1 matchups with him. His "smarts" have been questioned, as he constantly takes poor angles, is often out of position, and continues to get penalized for an infraction that was created because of him.

Bottom line - if you want a saftey who can blitz, hurt someone, play at the line and nothing more, than Williams is your guy. If you want a safety that will improve your secondary, then you best look elsewhere.

Maybe if he puts on twenty pounds and makes the switch to linebacker, which is basically what he is now.

He might be able to play linebacker in a cover-two, but no way in hell he can play safety. If he stays in Dallas and doesn't learn to cover over the next four months, look for him on the sideline in any passing situation. Right now, he can't cover a corpse in the ground.

how many probowls has this guy had? he's been all pro for about 6 years, why not give him a try? at least if moss catches it, he wont get up after being hit by jason allen and roy williams. you can rotate both him and yeremiah, and we could be in a great situation to be a pretty nice secondary!
