Everything I read suggests that we will 4 new starting lineman next season. Was it reported that Clabo is not interested in resigning? I think if we can bring him back on a 2 ye deal then we should definitely do it.

Just say no to Clabo. The guy sucked last year.

i think what everyone is referring to...is that we want the o-line to be improved enough so that a sub-par Tyson Clabo is not starting again in 2014, even if he is re-signed.

as a backup sure, but Clabo is at the bottom of his tank, played hard in the 2nd half of the season to his credit

Clabo as a person was honest and took ownership of his poor early season play. Clabo as a player improved as the season progressed and could be a reasonable option for depth if he's willing to take a cut in pay.

Im wondering if his 2nd half play can be attributed to finding a comfort level with the line. If he has his 1st half issues behind them I think he needs to compete for a spot at RT. I know we want a whole new line but that is asking a lot. We will surely overpay for a FA or end up overdrafting a guy or two because we missed out in FA.

After the first half of last season no team will want him in their starting 5. At vet minimum I wouldn't mind him as a backup, but would prefer another guy with an upside.

Clabo sucks. Re-watch the games if you have forgotten. Re-signing a washed up vet will continue to get this team nowhere. Wake up people.

Excellent comment :-)

Clabo returning would be disappointing if the team is actually trying to improve the line.

The Cabo hate is overstating things. True, he struggled mightily early, but he was in a new team and switching from power to zone scheme with the line constantly shifting Left to help Martin. He had no TE to help block.

So, as bad as he was early--and he was very bad--he changed when a real LT (McKinnie) joined the OL.

There actually is some data supporting bringing him back. That said, I don't think Hickey or Benton want him here, so I doubt we resign him. But, we should recognize that he was pretty solid after McKinnie joined us. He will have a job in the NFL somewhere. Too bad we can't say that about most of our other starting OL.

I think Clabo is pretty much done as a starter. I'd be okay with bringing him back as a backup. IMO he displayed commendable professionalism through his benching and the subsequent Bullygate garbage, but there's no denying that his play has started to decline.

In our first 6 games, Clabo sucked, was a bottom RT, had one good run grade, and 0 good pass grades, while giving up 8 sacks, 6 hits, and 18 hurries.

In our last 9 games, he was VG, a top RT, had good grade in run and pass in every game other than Carolina, while giving up 3 sacks, 4 hits, and 12 hurries. For those 9 games, he was easily top 10, and maybe top 5, of all RT's.

Anyone who did not see this did not watch his play or, did not understand what they were watching. He was Very Good.

Also, McKennie was no where near close to him.
