REGARDLESS Rt is going to do good, people are so quick to say rt isntma good qb because they compare him to tom brady aaron rodgers or any other elite qb, smh...rt has been improving from his rookie year to now, i mean i know he has a couple of flaws but he still at least an above average qb, and in this league that all u really need to win, if u put an above average qb on a team with below average players that thats what u get Inconsistent....i hope this gase guy can make tanny more consistent but if Rt has a great season next year i wont give all thanks to gase because deep down i know RT has what it takes to excel, but our front office, coaching staff, and team has to step up as well if they want to see the best out of RT

I just want to say the Texans would take RT right now. LOL.

The worst thing we can do is continue to rely on tanne hill to turn this franchise around. I've never seen a quarterback in the league so long that's never won a game on a final drive (if he has I don't recall it). He is so situationally bad we will never win with him as a quarterback. The OL is not great but half the sacks he takes he's looking right at the defensive lineman coming right at him. At this point he is who he is, and that is a quarterback that does plenty of things well but is so situationally poor he will never be a winning quarterback.

I remember ryan winning games on the final drive. and the vast majority of sacks are on the oline.

Like how i use blanket statements that have no merit? except mine are more accurate. Did you see how Tannehill played when the offensive line played HALFWAY decent? fix the online and tannehill will be a solid franchise qb.

Come on. We are all fans of the same team here. Your "blanket statements" are incorrect. Show me an instance where tanne hill came through in the clutch. Please. I've never seen a quarterback choke like he does. Show me how he plays down the stretch with the playoffs on the line. And lastly, if you think those sacks aren't at least partially on him then you just don't understand football. He has terrible pocket awareness and takes sacks regularly that he shouldn't. Even he and his coaches admit his pocket awareness had been a big coaching emphasis.

I have been a lifelong dolphin fan and I want to win as much as anyone, but I am almost certain we won't be winning anything with tanne hill as our quarterback.

Why should anyone have to provide evidence when 1000 of these threads have been posted ad naseum. Use pro-football-reference to find them yourself.

you said tannehill has never been clutch or had a game winning drive. one that comes to mind, against ATL. So there goes that statement.

I will admit, he takes sacks he shouldn't. Name me ONE qb that doesn't do that? Tell me how the oline has played down the stretch with the playoffs on the line? I've watched every game, a few times. please go back and see how fast tannehill gets sacked. and tannehill can't just throw the ball away every single time. that will cause a ton of turnovers or intentional groundings. The oline has been horrendous, proof is watching the games and looking at the offensive rankings. they are always at the bottom of the league. yet tannehill seems to play at an average rate with above average stats. And don't go with the garbage time route, that seems to be the go to, now that the deep ball passes is debunked. If that's the case, i guess drew brees is all of a sudden a bad qb who only gets garbage time stats.

oh, and understanding football....the most fundamental thing about football, offensively, is that the offensive line has to play good, to give any other unit a chance. That's just a fact and taught to football players from the beginning. They are the unsung heroes. Source: played football from 6th grade until graduating high school.

Aaron Rodgers has been sacked something like 28 times in the last 4 games. Does he now suck or have no pocket presence???

The dolphin oline is so bad. Would jason fox or Dallas Thomas make any other roster..

Are we back to this already????? Come on guys, we are just starting the off season, hired a new coach, about to put a staff together and then FA starts, following that the draft and we are going to debate RT vs the team again???? Lets save that when we see who we bring into camp and how well they play together under a new coach....

Im not a tanne hill hater and I'm not going to apologize for posting in a thread whose title I disagree with. Frankly, I think there are a lot of things tanne hill does well, which is why it's hard to get a good read on him. He looks very good at times and puts together stretches where he seems to have turned a corner. Additionally, his deep ball accuracy improved greatly this year, which shows he is capable of improvement.

All that said, I believe that he is situationally so bad that we wil never win important games with him as our quarterback. He takes FAR too many bad sacks and he comes up short in essentially every big moment whether at the micro level (crunch time of games) or the macro level (end of year fighting for a playoff berth). Teams/coaches that know him best make him look terrible which is why we don't win divisional games. We had, what, 4 safeties this year? That just can't happen and its further indication of how poor his awareness is.

Yes, the line was bad. Yes, we have more issues than just just quarterback. However, tanne hill is going to need to be replaced if we want to win. He can't even be a good caretaker quarterback because his biggest deficiency (situational awareness) is what is most important as a caretaker. I really dread to see another season with him leading this team. Let's just say I won't be getting my hopes up and I don't think up you should either.

That's usually how life works; everyone else is the problem.
