I've been hearing rumors lately that Jim Reid was hired specifically as OLB coach so that Zach Thomas could retire and be the new LB Coach.

Anybody have any confirmation on this or know of any details?? I don't want to name my sources out of confidentiality respect, but the few times they've led me in on a few things they've been more then right.

If this thread needs to be merged I understand, but I'm only posting because of how real the information was passed to me.

Nublar or any of you have any ideas?

Thanks

I wouldn't mind him as linebackers coach he knows how to tackle, read plays and has instinct.

That's the first I've heard of it... I did find it curious that Reid was brought in to be the outside linebackers coach, but then we have Edwards still don't we?

That's pure speculation, because George Edwards is currently the inside linebackers coach.

What this does mean though is that Miami will very likely be running the 3-4 defense. I don't see the team hiring an inside linebackers coach and an outside linebackers coach while playing the 4-3 defense.

I agree, and Zach has already said he plans on playing next year.

ok you can delete this thread, I just wanted to get some confirmation.

I appreciate it everybody thank you.

I'd love it if he stayed on as a coach, assuming he retires.

I hope Zach has two more years in him so that the Fins give him two more shots going out as a winner. When he does retire it needs to be when we are at least a playoff team so that there is a lot to shoot for besides pride.

George Edwards is coaching the ILBs. But not a bad idea for 2 or 3 years down the line.

Good point about the 3-4 KB.

Zach has a heart of a Miami Dolphin!
God Bless that guy! I hope he comes back to play but if not ill take him as a coach anyday

fine by me...would be great to keep zach with the dolphins
