Kerry Rhodes keeps dropping hints of a Brandon Marshall Trade

Posted by Mike Florio on September 7, 2009 12:10 PM ET
After more than 12 hours of silence on his Twitter page, which had folks buzzing over hints that receiver Brandon Marshall could be heading from Denver to New York, Jets safety Kerry Rhodes says that he wasn't referring to the potential trade for Marshall when promising a "big announcement" on Sunday night.

We think.

Rhodes posted, and then deleted, a tweet indicating that a trade for Marshall wasn't the big news to which he was referring. But the deleted tweet added that the trade for Marshall "may happen."

Rhodes now says on his Twitter page: "everyone the news will b mad 2morrow and if you really are a JET fan you will appreciate the news!"

He then reiterated the news is coming Tuesday: "it will b told tommorow seriously i wont lie to my fans and fans of the jets."

Already, it sounds like we're all in for a letdown on this one.

Unless Rhodes deleted the other tweet because a trade for Marshall still might happen.

I'm scratching my head on this one, why haven't we tried more to obtain a top flight WR this offseason? surely we don't have that much faith in our WR corps that we don't pursue one of the elite guys.

Yes, we don't react or over-react everytime someone might do something. This FO is not know for any knee jerk decision based on another teams actions.

WOW, he's already had public beef with Joey Porter. I hope he's right, these rivalries will become epic if Marshall becomes a Jet.

BECAUSE BILL PARCELLS hates wr's.

always has, and it looks like he always will.

and whats sad is our wr's are really nothing special at all. we get all giggly
and ooohhh and aaaahhhh when one of our wr's makes a 18 yd catch down field
and use that as an excuse every year "man! were set at wr, not need to trade or
spend money, did you see that catch sunday? he is going to break out, etc...]

this wouldnt sting so bad if we really had a wr on this roster that scared ANYONE!

hows that worked out for the last 10 years?

not one wr on this team gets doubled on any consistant basis.

vontae davis and sean smith are NOT going to be able to neutralize all this firepower
in our division. not at all. its nice to have them, but you HAVE TO HAVE FIRE TO
FIGHT FIRE!

we have to be able to score points because as i have said 100+ tiems now, these guy
are not the best at there position because they can only get over on so-so
defenses, they CAN and DO beat the best. and when they do [as vontae and sean
will soon see], you have to be able to score points to keep up.

there are some great things that are happening to this team for sure, but as bill
has shown over the last 10 years, he just wont put the icing on the cake. he
hates star player and you need them in THE WORST WAY at the wr position.

the jets, hate them or not [like i do], want to WIN! and they get how you have
to do it. TALENT! PLAYMAKERS! STARS!! you have to have a couple.

GREAT move for the jets. bad, bad news for us.

The continuous whining for #1 receivers is really starting to make me dizzy. It is an over-rated concept IMO and two years down the road you will be complaining that we gave up a first round pick for an over paid baby. Brandon Marshall is a baby pure and simple just like Plaxico Burress was when he was in Pittsburgh and now that dumb **** is in jail. Be thankful for the receivers you do have. Oh and by the way Ted Ginn was double covered plenty last season.

I know you want to score with a sixty yard bomb every possesion but there are other more creative ways to do it. Like moving the chains and chunking out first downs. That is what this team is built to do.

Who needs a head case out there. Not me. Brandon Marshall is a puke. Let him go to the stinkin' Jets. They deserve him!

If that WR wasn't named Brandon Marshall, you might've had a point.

Don't think it's about Marshall at this point or it probably would have leaked to the media through some other "source". Sounding more like it's going to be something lame and not player-related. Probably some event for the home opener or something like that.

And here's the big news, ladies and gents...

JetBlue, New York’s hometown airline, today has announced a partnership to become the Official Airline Partner of the New York Jets. The three-year sponsorship kicks off with this season’s activities and also celebrates 50 years of New York Jets football.

Dave Barger, JetBlue’s president and CEO, and Robin Hayes, JetBlue’s chief commercial officer, joined Woody Johnson, New York Jets chairman and CEO, and Matt Higgins, Jets executive vice president, business operations, along with celebrated former New York Jets players Joe Namath, Marty Lyons, Wayne Chrebet and Curtis Martin and members of the New York Jets Flight Crew, to make the announcement today at the airline’s new Terminal 5 at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. Hundreds of JetBlue crewmembers, customers and fans were also present to commemorate the announcement.

To further celebrate the launch of its partnership, JetBlue (Nasdaq: JBLU) is offering a special Takeoff and Touchdown Sale with fares available for purchase today only to AFC East division cities. From New York’s JFK, $12 fares* are available to Boston and Buffalo in honor of legendary Jets quarterback Joe Namath, No. 12. Special $50 fares* are available from Newark to Fort Lauderdale in celebration of 50 years of New York Jets football.

LOL.

Marshall can't even handle himself in Denver. What the hell do you think would happen if it went to anywhere like NY or Miami (South Beach, bad news for Mr.Marshall). He'd probably beat 6 hookers a week up in NY.
