I was just looking over our numbers, and found an interesting stat. We haven't allowed a rushing touchdown this year. We can thank our interior line and solid play from Zach. Zach has been taking some heat from some of us as of late and after I looked at this, I really don't think it's warranted.

We have been really great in the red zone. Teams are just able to pass on us, though.

That is good but maybe some of it also has to do with us giving up the big plays for touchdowns so many times.

I don't think we've given up more than three big plays for touchdowns on the pass. unfortunately that is one a game but that isn't horrible considering the youth in our backfield. So I don't believe our lack of Pass D is making our Rush D look better. I think we're forcing people to pass more, until they get in the lead :(

Yeah, sometimes these categories are misleading. After last year, Dennis Green touted his Arizona Cardinals' top 10 pass defense. Well, yeah, they were a top 10 pass defense last year because teams could run against them and kept running against them.

The pass has been working against the Dolphins. Besides, I can't remember too many occasions so far when opponents have been inside the 5-yard line against Miami.

I can think of at least 3 times where people have been inside the 5. we are the 6th ranked defense, OVERALL, after week 3. we are ranked 8th in the pass and 17th in the run. Granted, it's only week 3, but the defense, statistically, is looking quite stout.

THe D

Seriously, this D can be amazing once the secoondary gels a bit more and the D line finds its former level. The D line has NOT been getting to the QB as consistently the last two games as they did last season and that's not acceptable. They are our Defensive stregth and must compensate for a new secondary by pressuring opposing QB's more so they don;t have time (see how well it works on C-Pep?).

This WILL be a great D by the end of this year.

People keep faulting our D but through 3 games they have held us in there. Think of how many times they have been in bad field position and they hold.

I would be interested to know opposing average starting position.

For all the talk on how bad our run D is, they have just been given a steady dose and that is the reason for the yardage against them. Their actual yards per carry is quite low.

I think so far other teams have resorted to the run because:
A) Bad/Inexperienced QBs
B) The Opposing Coaches Style
C) Our Offense's inability to make a scoring threat

-Collins, Losman, Batch are not the type you rely on to win games
-Cowher, Fisher, Juaron all like to run
-We haven't been scary at all, why pass and risk a turnover when you can be safe and pound the rock, like teams did against us in 04.
