Ryan Grant

Thats not eating crow. Thats aquiring a RB that is better then him and would help this football team. plain and simple.

This, 100 times over.

Why should Thomas be assumed the starting job? Does everything have to be so rigid that Grant would be prevented from touching the field if he is listed third on a depth chart?
Bring in Ryan Grant and if he wins out then let him start. If it makes our football team better, do it. If pride or fear of eating crow is what is keeping this front office from improving our team, hand the keys to Nolan or even Daboll and show them the door.

Grant has shown he can be a pro-bowl running back despite playing behind a shaky line(he had two 1.2k yard seasons before they started overhauling their line with draft picks). Im a bit in disbelief that people are even suggesting we dont make a move for the man(if he becomes available) simply because he "needs" to be third stringer to Thomas and Bush.
Tony Sparano used to talk about competition all the time. Ever position needs to compete. If Thomas couldnt beat him out in camp, why would anyone want him to start in the regular season? Is saving face more important then losing games?

If he is available, make a play for him.

Don't get too excited....if he does get cut, the Jets or Pats will scoop him up and we will be sitting there once again scratching out heads and wondering why good players go to other teams, while we end up with LJ.

Just pick him up and trade Thomas for a pick next year if they're worried about Thomas lol

LOL at Ryan Grant being 3rd string if he were to get cut and we signed him. The only reason he wouldn't be starting for us is because we promised Reggie Bush he'd be the feature back, but this guy would certainly get the most carries.

Rotoworld is now updating there report saying Grant is guaranteed a roster spot for this coming season at a reduced salary.

I didn't think Grant would really be in jeopardy of getting cut. Behind Grant they have a rookie and James Starks who was by no means efficient last year.

what the hell is going on in this thread? ryan grant is nothing special, hense why the cheeseheads are thinking about cutting this bum. Larry johnson will do fine for us as a #4 on the dept chart at rb.

He is definitely a better option than LJ, I don't think anyone will claim otherwise. However, would Grant come as cheap as LJ? Also, would he be willing to be the 3rd string running back behind Bush and Thomas, I think the answer would be no.
I don't know why there's this obsession with giving Thomas such a prominent role over guys like Grant. If Grant gets cut, you readily tell him he'd share carries with Bush, and you sit Thomas. It's not written anywhere that we have to give Thomas such a prominent role right away.

Pretty sure bums aren't capable of back to back 1200 yard seasons.

why would you not if thomas has performed at a high level and has earned his spot on the depth chart. We spent a high pick on thomas, him and bush are much nastier combo than ronnie and ricky. More explosiveness, more power, more elusiveness, more flixibility. Ryan grant brings us nothing but another kory sheets with a bit more size.

As soon as I hear "hall of fame player (exaggerating to clarify)" is getting cut, flags go up for me. A superbowl champion is just plain cutting a tremendous player... one they can afford... at his prime age? Hmm, the anti-Pats. Could be. Never know. I held a liger cub once- in Westchester. True story.
