Ryan Tannehill (knee) returned to a limited practice on Friday.
Well that's something. The Dolphins had ruled Tannehill out for Sunday's Wild Card game in Pittsburgh but maybe they're having second thoughts. With that said, Matt Moore has played well enough that the Dolphins shouldn't feel compelled to play Tannehill coming off a long layoff and clearly operating at less than 100 percent. If the Dolphins advance to the Divisional Round, there's a reasonable chance Tannehill would be ready to take on New England next Saturday at Foxboro.

Jason JonesDolphins waived DE Jason Jones.
The move is surprising two days ahead of Miami's Wild Card trip to Pittsburgh. A big part of the Fins' defensive line rotation, Jones posted 3.5 sacks across 14 appearances and wasn't playing noticeably poorly. He does have a history of substance abuse suspensions. We wonder if something went wrong behind the scenes.

why would tanny practice on Friday...the last day of game prep

that's when moore needs the most reps

odd

Jones fail another drug test?

I know they want to activate Mario, but this is still pretty shocking unless there was behind the scenes stuff.

Tannehill practicing isn't a shocker. They clearly think he has a shot to play vs NE if we win

I doubt he did a whole lot.

I still think RT dresses for the game. We need to pull out all the stops.
If Moore goes down, without RT, the season is over.
IMHO, Moore starts and RT is the back up.
Maybe Yates (3rd string) isn't ready to run the offense?

I've seen it reported that his release is not due to a legal matter. Some spec is that he was told he wouldn't play, possibly reacted badly and then immediately waived.

Maybe he will be the # 2 QB in case that dirty player Tuitt gets Moore out of the game.

Gamesmanship.

Gase rules him out. Tomlin prepares for Moore. Tannehill starts the game. Gase wins.

It smells like they want Tannehill to play next week. If there is a next week

I felt like Jones played hard for us this year. That kinda sucks

Jones must have failed a test. That's the only explanation

In any event I like the message this new Coaching Staff if sending to the players, have your sh*t together or get shipped out!

That will make any team play well!

Adam Gase is exerting his leadership and authority by cutting Jason Jones. If it is another failed drug test, his message to the team is that certain behavior re the consumption of substances will not be tolerated, i.e. no exceptions. It is tough but it is clear.

It may just boil down to numbers. If Tanne is active, you probably carry 3 QBs. We have heard that Mario Williams will play, probably leaving Jones inactive. I would be pissed too if I was Jones and was being replaced by Mario Williams. He probably went off and we know from game 1 with J-Train, Gase don't play that shiz!

Listening to Gase press conference.

Ryan did some scout team work today. Sounds like Doc cleared him but Adam does not like the way Ryan is moving yet. Could be the first time the front office is pushing for Ryan to be active while Adam is being precautious. Speculation on my end, but Gase does not sound very enthusiastic about it (that is his personality in fairness).
