Ryan Tannehill could be our next qb if manning goes to arizona

1. Owner speaks publicly about wanting Peyton Manning
2. Owner hires Philbin
3. Philbin hires Sherman
4. GB does not tag Flynn
5. Team does not pursue trading up to get RGIII
6. Peyton released by IND
7. Peyton states he will make a choice by Tuesday (start of FA)
8. STL trades #2 overall pick to WAS (for RGIII)
9. Peyton visits Broncos, visiting Arizona next
10. Peyton visists Arizona, no "next" visit planned

To me, it's obvious if you look at the undercurrent... We've publicly bluffed our interest in Peyton and RGIII. Flynn is our next QB. And will be signed quickly after FA starts.

Ross looked like a fool chasing after Harbaugh and Fisher. I think he wisened up and took a page out of Parcell's book by being a PR diversion.

It's obvious now that Peyton was never interested in us. We're not even being mentioned and his "tour" is almost over.

Why would you hire a HC who doesn't want the QB you want? Because you're deferring to his judgement.

Flynn has been the choice the whole time.

MHO
Not sure #1 every actually happened. I think it was the media that said he wanted Manning, don't think Ross ever publicly said that.

Not in a sense that there was a presser with a podium. But they did let that information "leak" to the media.

Which is typical smoke screen behavior.

Well, the Seahawks aren't drafting Flynn, but they could sign him.
If all of these things happen above, Brandon Weedon will be a Miami Dolphin.

We still have best chance at taking Peyton, or Flynn after that, no matter what these mis-informed (or better non-informed) reporters say, but I would also not have a problem going after Tennehill or Weedon if we dont get a QB in FA.

Doesnt Kolb play for 'Zona? Didn't they shell out some bucks for him? This must be embarrassing for Arizona. I don't know who the best person to qb for our team. I know Manning is an upgrade over Moore, but we may lose out. So seeing our history of acquiring players, I'm thinking we won't get Peyton or Flynn. RG3 is out, so it looks like an o-lineman in the 1st round. It's just "Safe pick" Miami here. Just my thoughts.

i do not want this guy at all. i just dont think hes that good....time will tell but thats just my opinion

Is there any way we could draft both Tannehill and Weedon and see which one pans out? Id rather double down and increase our chances of finding someone.

I have no doubt Ross wants Manning, I also have no doubt if we miss out on manning he will spin it just like the harbaugh debacle

They gave up a lot for Kolb, couple of picks and Rodgers-Cromartie IIRC. He's also due a $7 million roster bonus soon but if they sign Manning my guess is Kolb will get cut and they eat the rest of the guaranteed money they owe him and not pay him the roster bonus.

Arizona has everyone at the facility recruiting him, owner, coaches, Fitgerald...I even saw Kurt Warner there today. We'll see what happens.

As for Tannehill I think he would be there at #8 my concern is would the fans have the patience to let him sit and learn for a couple of years or are they going to whine and complain about wanting him to start day 1? IMO he's not ready to be a starter day 1...only QB I think that's ready to start day 1 in this draft is Andrew Luck.

And the loser could play RT or be a pass rusher for us. /sarcasm

We have other holes to fill.

No problem at all with weeden as a dolphin as long as we dont spend a first or second round pick on him,

I'm very worried about drafting Tannehill at all. If he needs a few years to groom, he'll be like 27 by the time he's ready (he'll be 24 this year to start the season), and people seem to think he won't be able to start day 1. If we were able to trade back and get him later in the round, I might be ok with that, but at #8 it sounds like a huge reach. We DO need a qb of the future, but unfortunately there are only 2 in this draft that look almost surely worthwhile and they are both already locked up. We either need Manning to tide us over until there's a QB-rich draft, or Flynn to be our QB of the future.

If we were to get Manning chances are we won't be picking high enough to draft a QB. The new rookie wage scale will prevent an Aaron Rodgers from dropping to 24th in this new CBA era. Won't happen.

We'll be picking projects late in the draft and hoping they pan out.

its doesnt matter. the fans are useless whiners any way you slice it.

If Seattle and Cleveland think Tannehill is worth it, then why wouldnt we at 8?

I think people on here dont see the transition part of this into the NFL as opposed to how he did against competition in college.

He was at Texas friggn A&M, not Texas. He turned that program around essentially and he went from WR to QB and learned the position in less time than others who have played nothing but QB. Dude is 6,4", smart, can extend the pocket, and can throw the rock. Management wont neccessarily look at it as how he projects from college. They will look at it his value to this team in two-three years. And as others have mentioned, we do have Moore who will be much further ahead with this offense with a real offseason.

I would like to re-iterate what Philbin said and that is building through the draft instead of FA. Starting to see Flynn in Cleveland. If you dont see Cleveland getting Flynn, then they will certainly be looking for Tannehill at 22. Draftcountdown I believe has Tannehill going to Seattle at 13.

He turned the program around? How is that? By winning 4 games in the BIG 12 this year? You must be speaking about the year before, because last year TAM was a Preseason TOP 10 pick.

When he faced top 10 talent, he failed. MIZZOU, OK and OKST made him look foolish at times. He did decent against the likes of TEX and KSU, but when faced against some of the better defensive units in the BIG 12, he sucked.

Tannehill wouldn't be sniffing the 1st round this year if it was a deep QB class. But since it isn't, you have those in the media and those here who will push for a reach at #8. If Pat White was a reach, Tannehill will make that pick look brilliant.
