ryan tannehill....dave hyde's a believer

This is a first for you.

Normally all your responses are well thought out and stick to the topic. As it stands, you're left with nothing but sarcasm aimed at me.

Are you running a fever CK?

Still waiting for your response on how you'd judge Garrard/Moore vs. the backups if you were to put them in Tanny's place. Would you claim "they belong" too? Too funny man. Might as well put us down for a Super Bowl too while you're at it. I mean after all we've had 3 practices and that's more than enough to get an accurate assessment. We belong!!!!!

Just curious, do you not think a former Pro Bowler in Garrard and Moore who went 6-3 in our last 9 games "belong"? If they go against the backups and struggle would that not make you think twice about Tannehill and how he has done? I don't think anyone is annoiting Tannehill to the HOF as of yet at least not in this thread but said "he looks like he belongs". I think more people expected him to struggle regardless of the level of Defense he was playing against because of his lack of experience. With him playing so well, last time I checked completing 40 of 53 passes is pretty damn good, he may actually look like his learning curve may not be as steep as many have speculated.

"how you'd judge Garrard/Moore vs. the backups if you were to put them in Tanny's place", back to this for a second. If either struggled then I think we would look at cutting them. PLease remember that each rookie is trying to show that he "belongs" in the NFL. This is a man's game and many rookies come in and are over there heads.

I ask a question and all I get in response are questions. That's called "deflecting".

The statement was made after a couple practices that Tanny looks like he "belongs" ...... this is a premature statement given the level of competition he is facing in camp right now. That is not to take away from the positives he's showing i.e. arm strength, ball placement, etc. These variables will inevitably be affected once he's tested by starting level competition and/or opposing team's defenses.

For now, to say he belongs ..... is the equivalent of trying to run a marathon before you can even walk. Does he belong on the field with backups? He's shown that up to this point. How does one extrapolate that to belong with the game's starters is beyond me at this juncture.

The kid needs time. Be happy he's playing well in practice. Everything else is premature at this stage.

I don't think anybody in this thread that you're arguing with has said he needs to be the starter based off of his 2 practices against the 2s. They're saying if he looks good against the 2s that can only be a positive thing. If he looked average against the 2s, well then there'd be cause for concern. Looking good against the 2s might mean he looks average against the ones, and for a rookie QB to look average against the 1s (as long as he's relatively close to Moore and Garrard) then I think that's a victory.

Follow along ....

The comment in dispute was "Tannehill looks like he belongs."

Suffice to say ..... a guy with 19 previous starts under his OC and complete familiarity with the playbook, I'd hope to god he'd practice well vs. 2's.

So your point is what? That we should temper our optimism just because he's been looking good against the 2s? No one has anointed him starter that you've been arguing with. We're all happy he's playing well in camp and we're excited to see him play against the 1's, but he hasn't shown enough to really say anything more.

The author is a proponent of Tanny starting right now. Arriving at the idea after 2 training camp practices vs. backups. I'm glad the rook is progressing. But the end result of his conclusion is so entirely premature and completely not objective.

I don't know, yesterday I think I read that "it was looking like Hartline was going to be shut down for the season" in a thread after he had missed like 2 practices. That to me is a lot more extreme than saying Tannehill is looking like he belongs after 2 practices.

Agreed with most people that if its a tight race between the 3 of them then Tannehill starts.. that's a non-issue for me. What worries me is if the owner/coaching staff force the issue and make Tannehill the starter even if he doesnt win the qb battle. If he earns it then great, we may have something but don't do it for the sake of it.

In which case, I disagree with the author and am in complete agreement with you. I don't think CK is recommending that Tanny starts either but just that the signs are good.

Look on the bright side at least Tannehill has Philbin and not Sparano coaching him. And has familiarity with the system!!! All positives. He's also come to camp eager and with some swagger instead of what he showed in OTA's.

I can tell ya this much. I saw them talking bout Flynn the other day and watching him throw. I was smiling. I just know Philbin has the wisdom to know the difference.
