A month and a half after Ryan Tannehill suffered a partial tear in his ACL, the Dolphins quarterback's rehab is going so well that those involved believe he will not need a full reconstruction prior to the 2017 season, sources say.

Tannehill has a benchmark MRI later today, and more details should be known. But at this point, after countless strengthening and rehab exercises, Tannehill's knee is stable enough to feel confident going into the season, per sources.
Tannehill's MCL, which was also damaged in the late-season hit, is actually giving him more problems than the ACL. MCL sprains aren't fixed surgically, and he will be fine long before the season.

raw

That all sounds encouraging, lets hope MRI checks out ok. Interesting he may be headed to Germany.

This confirms that there was a 'plan' in place....all along.

Optimistic story seeing that he hasn't had the "benchmark" MRI yet but positive news none the less. Pretty sure the beat writers will be all over this later in the day after the MRI.

I actually have a family friend that practices this procedure in Germany and has worked on several US athletes but mainly works with European soccer players. It's growing more and more popular due to the success rate with non surgical procedures. Surprised it hasn't taken off over here but maybe that has something to do with regulations, etc.

I can't believe we still don't allow that procedure in the US.

In the United States it is called Regenokine and is considered a variant of Orthokine because of significant legal and medical issues surrounding the simple fact that the Orthokine process is not approved for use in the United States.* The US ban has to do with blood manipulation and blood storage.

In short, the U.S. probably hasn't found the most "proper way" to get their cut from this procedure and current procedures that are "legal" net them more money (MRI's, pre and post op surgery costs and medicine, etc.)

.. and here they come off Ian's report.

Tannehill sprained the ACL and MCL in his left knee on a hit from Calais Campbell on Dec. 11, and his rehabilitation status has been murky ever since. He was working toward playing the week of Miami’s playoff game at Pittsburgh, but a week later the team remained unsure how serious the injury was. Surgery might still be necessary, but the full ACL reconstruction procedure would have jeopardized his availability for the start of the season.

The NFL Network report said Tannehill will undergo an MRI today, but already has enough stability in his knee to play basketball and should be ready for next season.

The SOB better not be playing basketball.

if you can play basketball you can play football

I will wait for the mri confirmation but hopefully he will be ready for otas and mini camps

But this can't be, majority of people here were ripping the team for not getting the absolutely necessary surgery asap!

I dont mean to sound like a pisser, but wasn't that what they said last month?

When "likely will not need surgery" changes to "definitely will not need surgery" I'll feel better.
