The Dolphins are paying quarterback Ryan Tannehill like a team captain and leader, and should be pleased that he's acting that way.
Though his desire to take over the team has never been in question, the Dolphins wrapped up their offseason activities with a tidy bow after hearing quotes like this:

"(He's) kind of taking the team on his shoulders and knowing that, hey, we've got to come out here every day and put something great together," wideout Kenny Stills told the team's website. "And if we want to have a chance of being a great team, it's going to come from him and the rest of this offense. He takes pride in that."
Tannehill, for good measure, added this:
"I think we have a lot of great leaders, but I definitely consider myself a big leader on this team," he said. "As far as the franchise, they have been great to me this offseason as far as communication through free agency, through the team last year. Obviously the contract is huge. They put their money where their mouth is, so to speak, with the contract and really taking my viewpoint and my thoughts on things throughout the offseason."

Tannehill Feeling Great Entering 2015

“I definitely think I am growing,” Tannehill said. “I try to get better each and every day, learn from my mistakes, make good decisions, and put the ball in the right location. There are definitely plays that I wish that I could have back. There are always things that I am looking to improve upon, but I think I am learning from every rep and filing those reps away. I feel really comfortable in this offense right now in the sense of knowing exactly where everyone is supposed to be and being more of a coach on the field this year as opposed to trying to learn the whole system with everyone else like I did last year.

“I feel great about our progress that we made this spring. I feel that every day we got better and learned something. I like the guys and players that we have. I am excited for training camp so that we can continue to hone our craft and continue to build our chemistry.”

The highlight of Tannehill’s offseason, of course, came when he signed a six-year contract extension in mid-May. That came a little less than three weeks after the Dolphins exercised their fifth-year option on the contract Tannehill had signed after being the team’s first-round pick in 2012.

If anybody thought for a second the new contract would make Tannehill complacent, that’s far from what happened. If anything, Tannehill worked even harder than usual this spring.

Good stuff on Ryan...

As much as this season rests on his shoulder (and his legs to a lesser extent) much of what will dictate what happen will be the guard play. Skill positions are all above average, The outside and center as well, if they can get competent play out of the guards they should be a pretty dangerous group.

One thing about Tannehill, he does put in the work and will try to work on his weaknesses...I think his leadership, while good, could be better. He is the face of the franchise, it is time for it to be his team as well.

This season is making me wet with anticipation..... Well, I was digging all day in 98 degree weather so that might be sweat.

But I have not been this excited in years. If I still had the money, I'd buy season tickets again. I normally can only go to like 2-3 games at most so I used to sell the others. But then a few years ago I could not sell them or even give them away. I'm pumped...

Should have signed Greg Jennings in 2012 instead of Mike Wallace...I think the site was split on that although a few more wanted Wallace because he was younger and faster. Jennings would have helped Ryan's career a lot more just because of his leadership and experience as a refined route runner. I'm so happy that guy is on the team now and I think it will benefit both Tannehill and Jennings this season.

I really like the direction we're heading. I think, from afar anyway, the team has better chemistry. There's more cohesion on offense and the talent at the skill positions is deeper than it's been in a long, long, long time. O-line needs to come together, that's the key.

Defensively I think Suh and Mosely are going to change attitudes drastically. Hearing Suh talk about teams running the ball is disrespectful to the defense and it can't be allowed...man...that's the kind of attitude we've been missing.

Tannehill has been taking steps towards leadership more and more each season but I think with Wallace now gone Tannehill can fully take the reigns. It's been a good, productive off season. Hopefully they continue to build on it when training camp opens.
