ryan tannehill vs texas 2011 on espnu right now...

He choked away this game in the second half. Terrible.

get a good look at jeff fuller...i don't recall if this game shows it or not but there's an awful lot of his tape in 2011 where he doesn't separate at all...tough on tannehill when you got a guy that slow with that little burst running a lot of vertical routes...maybe fuller was hurt he better hope so if he plans on making this roster off his 2011 tape

get a good look at ryan swope also...you might be looking at our future slot wr...i'm sure sherman is gonna bang the table for him...

he had fuller wide open on the fly in the endzone but under threw the ball, pretty poor pass.

the vertical deep ball accuracy also well i'll just say i looked at i guess 7 games of tannehills from 2011 and i didn't see good ball placement or accuracy on any of em...either underthrown or thrown too far inside when they should have been over the outside shoulder and out in front or thrown out of bounds...i'm hoping that was more he didn't trust fuller to win enough then what kind of vertical over the top accuracy he's gonna have...

but some of those crossing routes i mean they are ropes...watch how quick he gets out of his drop in play action on the ball fake...you can just tell the kids quite an athlete...the feel for pressure on tape very good...high end physical talent...not afraid of contact throws damn well on the hoof...will stand in and deliver...

i'm not watching right now but i do know that the texas game was probably his worst performance so keep that in mind...

You can also see Kheeston Randall

yeah and he looked pretty solid...

not a great day for tanny though...outside of some outstanding throws on the move there wasn't a whole lot of stuff from the pocket to get excited about...some bad ball placement and forcing some things down the seam...he's got a bad habit of tapping the football before he lets it rip i worry about dbs and safeties keying on that and getting the jump...he also i swear at times decides where he's going with the ball no matter what the coverage looks like and just let er rip...some of those inbreaking routes he's got to make sure the wr wins before he ****s the hammer...even on some of the throws he did complete he seemed to throw behind guys and what not...

that said he threw a pick 6 in the 2nd half on a route fuller never won on and still at the end of the game made the plays he had to make to put them in position to win...the d just coughed it up

I have watched a lot of his game films and while he does make a few mistakes, the D and his receivers kill him!!! Watch the games and you will see a lot of drops, poor routes, and balls bouncing off WRs hands for picks. He is a rhythm QB and needs help to move the chains. He can throw it to himself!!! He needs to sit all this year to learn how to be a Pro, then take his lumps next year. I think he will be fine with good coaching and I'm glad we took him.

We will find out in 2013 how good he is, but for now leave the man alone, he has not played a down yet for **** sake...............

The more I watch Texas A&M's games over again, the more I realize that Tanny and Swope were far and away the best players on a pretty poor offense. That doesn't mean that Tanny is a great prospect OR a bad one, but in A&M's losses, it really felt like watching a Dolphins loss on offense. Whenever Tanny made a great play, a receiver (mostly Fuller) would drop the ball or fall down, and when Tanny had time to throw and an open receiver he would underthrow the ball or make a bad decision.

To be fair, even though Tanny played poorly throughout most of the Texas game, he did play well enough to win in the 4th quarter. A&M really got boned by a BAD personal foul call and overall poor defense in the final minute. I still maintain that against AR and OK St. Tannehill played pretty well, and not EVERY pick he threw was his fault, but when asked to step up and play big he came up small.

Tannehill, from my limited experience, looks different from game 1 to game 12. That's a positive. I was seeing more zip on his passes towards the end, and much tighter throwing lanes. I attribute all of this to his footwork, but I'm looking on freakin Youtube so it's pretty hard to tell.

Watch a guy like Drew Brees. He is consistent with both his placement and velocity... Tom Brady is as well (actually, Brady is the literal poster child for mechanics) but you'll see that it's simply due to their footwork and mechanics, as well as hip movement. Tannehill has a lot of erratic throws his junior year, and I see a lot more consistency in his later years. I also see a lot better timing, especially with that little WR they have, Swope.

He seems too eager to run out of the pocket, IMO, which is troubling for me. That will get him killed in the NFL. He needs to find a lane, stick to it, and just let er rip. I hope he has the natural instincts which seem to be absolutely key to becoming elite.
