I know everybody probably already knows this, but I'm going to put it our there anyway. The reason Ryan Tannehill cannot throw the long ball accurately is because of his throwing motion. He has a side arm type of release that make it impossible to change the trajectory of his throw. If i recall correctly that was a concern of the NFL scouts league wide. Its just like shooting a basketball you have to be able to shoot with ARC, if not your shot will be flat and your made percentage will drop. throwing a football is the same way.

His throwing motion does look weird anytime he attempts a deep pass, then again he has All-World QB Coach Zac Taylor. The franchise really needs to invest in someone who's going to help refine Tannehill's deficiencies.

Rivers has no deep ball issues and has a side throwing motion.

What I don't understand is Tannehill was having success all preseason with the long ball. Even Omar who is still rooting for Gerrard to start over Tannehill was tweeting these updates. What happened to that progress?

I think he is concentrating too hard on the throw instead of it being natural. That's because of a lack of confidence in his deep ball.

I agree there are mechanical issues. But how much is from pressure? He has made some nice throws with good form. This is the ultimate head scratcher because you wish you can judge based on a good OL. The elite qb's have some semblence of a decent OL, and when they dont, well you get Luck 2015. So what does that mean? When you know or think your qb is good, you get OLinemen. Look at Romo, Brady, Mannin and Rodgers. How many sacks and pressures compared to qb's that cannot take it to the next level

However, Tannehill does make throws at times you wonder about- without pressure. That is what makes him the question about the long term deal. Miami had choices and time. They didnt have to pick up hos option. They could have franchised, right? You pay players that perform not based on potential. Well we did that w Suh and......we have the Miami Dolphins lol

Man, I'm really starting to hate this place. Every single thread is some negative, divisive, hateful, complaining, joyless, I'm an all-star in my real life job non-sense...

Win a Super Bowl... Humbug! 50 threads created during the game and after complaining about something!

Curse on all your houses! This fan base doesn't deserve anything good.

RT's main problem with the deep ball.....is that we don't throw it enough. Give him more opportunities under game conditions, and it will get better. Only throw it once a game......and it will always be mediocre.

I would gladly give up 4 or 5 of those stupid bubble screens per game that end up losing us two yards, and let RT chuck it down field. We would actually come out ahead.

That's all there is to it. It's stupid to keep on with this same old nonsense stating that he can't do it. We've seen him do it many times, yet we come on here and if you listened to what most people here are saying you would think he's never ever completed one. When they call for it barely once a game....he's going to be rusty. There is nothing wrong with his throwing motion nor his ability to throw a touch pass. Period!! It just has to be used to built timing and chemistry.....and Lazor JUST WONT DO IT for some reason!
