“I’m playing for the guys around me,” the Dolphins starting quarterback says. “I see how much work these guys put in. I believe in these guys, I believe we have a lot of football in front of us and we can go win a lot of football games.
“I’m going to give it everything I have with these guys and hopefully come out with wins.”
That’s a good answer. There’s fellowship and dignity in that answer.
But that answer is incomplete. Because as much as Tannehill is playing for his teammates and to get the Dolphins victories, he’s also very much playing for himself.
In that regard, Ryan Tannehill needs to play for Ryan Tannehill now.
Because his Dolphins future is at stake.

If Tannehill puts up perfect ratings the last 6 games, Miami still needs to draft a QB. Either to backup up Tannehill or to replace tannehill. Isn’t gase tired of seasons with Osweiler and Cutler coming on for QB because Tannehill is hurt?

Even if he plays "elite" for the next 6 games you still need to draft a QB......he's been hurt 3 years in a row and he'll be 31.....why would you want to count on him?

Basically the entire team is hurt. This a issue unto itself.

I disagree with the premise. The only way he's not the starter next season is if he destroys his shoulder or tears his knee up again in the final 6 games.

Hope he does well, but I’ve seen enough. Draft draft draft until you hit on something. And even when you do... keep on drafting... knowing our G$d D@m& luck.

Tannehill isn't going anywhere next year and we're not spending a high draft pick to groom a new quarterback. Gase likes Tannehill bottom line. Ross likes Gase. The two of them are back next year. If this article was about next year being a make or break year it would make sense. But this year? Just more Miami Herald nonsense.

I agree with you. It's only year 7 in the holiday jingle of, "The 12 Years of Tannehill."

We have many more first quarter punts to look forward to. And blank stares. And fired coaches...

The gag gift this December is almost certainly going to be someone who plays well enough to jolly all the adjusters and all the tape guys.

Regretfully. Probably true.

We're NOT big on accountability.

But HUGE on excuses.
