Saban, belichick & their fathers

Did you guys know,

That Nick Saban not only coached under Bill but also coached under Steve
Belichick at the Naval Academy in 1982.
Secondly, Nick's father (Lou) coached the Pats & Bills. Apparently, Lou was somewhat of a 'coach whore'. He would go from one team to another basically making them competitive then leaving for another team. That was his goal. I hope Nick doesn't do that.
Finally, Nick and Bill of Croatian decent.

These two are arguably the best coaches in the league. Its funny how they have been connected for such a long time.

Lou Saban is Nick's uncle, not his father.

Wikipedia is wrong. They asked Nick repeatedly about Uncle Lou when he first upped with the Phins. He basically says he never had much contact with him.

Maybe it's not as cut and dry as I thought:

There seems to be some confusion regarding this matter. I’ve read in the past that Lou is Nick’s uncle but there are some reports that dispute that. The new Dolphins coach’s full name is Nick Lou Saban and many bios for him list Lou as anywhere from a distant relative to his uncle. The Dolphins have yet to post a bio of Nick on their website but my best guess is the two are indeed related.

Nick was hired by Mr. Belicheck at Navy and I think it was his first coaching gig. Their's is a really good story of dedicated frienships and mentoring.
