Dolphins | Looking Closely at Center Position

The Miami Herald reports <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/22/nfl">Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban plans on weighing the performances of both Cs Seth McKinney and Rex Hadnot during the Monday, Aug. 8, preseason game against the Chicago Bears.

Totally agree. Saban and coach H have given Seth and Hadnot both chances in Camp to see what they have, now they will get to evaluate both players in a live situation. From what i've seen in training camp Hadnot has been the better player, we know he is a stud at RG, so let see if he can do the same as center.

I think Hadnot is our #1 Center and Seth may be cut sooner than later...maybe we can find a Center on the waiver wire.

Every O-lineman we signed had that Rep

Let me pose a question for everyone. Rex Hadnot has looked excellent at guard in camp. Suppose he looks better at C than McKinney (shouldn't be too difficult), but shows limitations that lead you to believe he has a far brighter future at guard than at center. Do you...

a) play Rex at center and likely Middleton at guard to get your best 5 on the field

b) keep Rex at guard where he has a chance to be special and let McKinney remain the starting C with Ephram (sp?) also competing for that spot.

c) something else

PS: I know Rex played C in college. This is just hypothetical, but there may be something to it.

They wont cut Seth, remember he can also play guard and IMO he is a better guard than a center, so they will keep him for depth.

best 5 on the field = Seth on the bench and Hadnot at C for at least this year.

Actually Hadnot might be a better C eventually. He was a very highly rated pass blocker at C in college, and can make a push in the run game. The problem is he can't get to the outside and block like Casey Wiegmann and Mawae.
