I keep reading that Saban misses the part of coaching that allowed him to teach? Something he supposedly did a lot of in College.

I don't get it and maybe that's his problem as an NFL coach. The guys that come into the league and even many veterans still need to learn. Why can't he still teach at the pro level? More responsibilities as the head coach in pro football?

I didn't see or hear Saban make the comment about how he misses teaching the young kids and all that. (He probably did make that comment) I think that probably the media has taken something he said and once again made it into a huge deal when it is not.

During the game the announcers said Saban likes teaching kids ages 18-22.

This is what the draft is for though..he'll have plenty of teaching next year with last years draft and this one.

The only thing you see Saban do at practice that comes close to "teaching" is with the secondary guys. That's his baby. His specialty. And, in 2 years, we don't have anyone close to the skills of Surtain & Madison, and we have not neglected this area and shufflled a bunch of players thru his system. No one seems to "get it". So much for the Nickster's teaching skills.

WE are 4th in the league in pass defense.

I think what he meant was teaching the kids on a personal level and preparing them for life after college in the NFL. Of course people still learn in the NFL level but its different when your playing for your school and when youre playing for money.

I wouldn't credit all of that to the secondary though, I'll credit that to our above average pass rush.

The pass rush and pass coverage works together. You cannot honestly credit one without crediting the other.

Saban likes teaching and influencing younger kids. Not only on the football field but off it as well. Help them grow as men.

Well it sure seems to me that at 20 or 21 there is plenty to teach these kids both personally and as players.
