I justed finished watching Nick's Radio show and he made several comments about how we need continuity to be successful next year... HE stated that we needed to keep core people on the team and the coordinators to help with that continuity... Now that was not his EXACT words, but that is what he said...

Watch the show... It can be found at : http://www.miamidolphins.com/newsite/flash_content.asp

I think NICK is doing everything right at this point...

He goes on to talk about the move of Shelton and other things that I find very intriguing!!!

What I found intriguing was that if Chambers and Minor could have gotten on the same page 1 second earlier, we'd have run back the final kickoff for a TD and beat the Jets.

What I found intriguing is that we put ourselves in a position to have to run in a kick for a TD after neglecting the whole "get in the end zone" thing for the prior 59 minutes.

 I thought the Jets had it pretty well covered did they not? I already erased the game or I would recheck myself.

As for the article, I actually don't like all this talk about continuity next year from Saban. Call me crazy, but it almost sounds like he is giving advice for his replcement on how HE would do things if he were still here.

I may be reading too much into it though...

WEll if you all would at least listen to the ENTIRE show before responding, I would accept your input...

This has to be the BEST interview/talk SABAN has ever given!!! He identifies with all the posting that is going on out here right now!

Everything from CLEO, retention, individual players, reasons for the events that has transpired... The WHOLE 9 YARDS!

Listen/watch the show!!!

You guys had Westhoff before we did. Do you really think one of his teams would ever get beat on a last second kick return?

Can't say I disagree with Nick. So..all those that wanted Mularkey out can forget about it for atleast a couple years.

BS. We can fire Mularkey... and just promote from with in to keep the continuity. Others on our own staff would be better (Baggett)...

I think we seiously underestimate how hard it is to be an oc in this league, especially a proven one. We want succes right away and when we dont get it we wana fire the hc, oc etc. Mularkey has proven to be a succesful coordiantor. He needs time, when Linehan arrived in the beggining everyone hated him because we were losing and he wasnt calling the right plays, with time we grew to love him. The same can be said of Mularkey. People have become aware that he can actually be pretty good. In my opinion of a few of his calls one us a couple of games. Yet its impossible for any coordinator to have no experience with his players and have success in tersm of knowing how to use players and which plays to call at what times. Continuity means we keep things the same, we have to let people adapt to their situations. Firing Mularkey and promoting from within will only set us back because the new oc might have experience with us in another field, but he probably hasnt been calling any plays.

Saban ismt only trying to build a good team, he wants his team..and its taking some time, we are just so result oriented (me included) that we want everyone fired every time we lose. and everyones a bust and everyone sucks etc. its not very logical.

No he hasnt. He has been horrible. Just look at our recent games? Vs the Jets we scored 13... vs Bills we scored 0... vs. NE we scored 21... but had dominating field position all game. His playcalling is terrible... and it has single handedly lost us very winnable games...

I am ALL about continuity... because I believe it is a huge reason we have started slow out of the gate. However, we arnt going to be successful with Mularkey calling the plays and running or offense. Our #1 WR has been non-existant. Our RB will average 6ypc and still only get like 15 carries. Its sad.

Switching to Baggett... who worked under Linehan in Minn... with Culpepper... and who has been with our offense for the past 2 years... would really not cause much turbulation or big adjustments.

So, I guess Mularkey was out there looking like a fool at Qb, missing his blocking assignments on the o line, and dropping passes. At what point do we draw the line between players and coaches?

Some of the plays Mularkey have won us games. He has skill when it comes to creative plays in crucial moments, like that flea flicker in one of our games that had us in scoring position when w elooked awul (forget which game).

Mularkey is not at fault for Culpepper's sorry rehabing, Harrington's lack of everything good, or our receivers dropping a ridiculous amount of balls.

If our players execute better on half the plays they screw up on, this conversation doesnt happen.

But of course, its easier to blame the guy we havnt built loyalties to, the guy whose only been here 1 season. Its a lot easier to do that than to admit for example that maybe Chris Chambers isnt that great etc.

In all honesty, nobody knows if Baggett would make a good OC. Sure, he's the WR coach and has done a decent job with that, but does he have proven OC experience?

sabans meaning behind continuinity...

guys when saban is talking continuinity (SP) i dont think he is talking OC but player wise. Our secondary was totally new from last year so they had no clue wtf t hey were doin on the field. next year with a year under there belt with 1-2 new players in there, thats what will make this team good. its not the Offense that needs continuinity as we did NTN to chagne the offense but get shelton and DC/joey. our secdonary was the one spot that got COMPLETE overhaul. until he finds the right players we wont have continuinity.

I sincerely hope that he wasn't referring to Mularkey wrt continuity. Because the only continuity we'll have if we keep him as OC is that our offense will CONTINUE to suck.
