One of the Don's trademarks as a coach was he adapted his systems and schemes to fit his players. He never tried to make his players Fit his schemes.
I think our Biggest PROBLEMS RIGHT NOW are our Current players are not fit for the schemes there being forced to play, anyone agree!

very true, but Saban built a defense in Cleveland and he will do the same here

you can't turn over a roster in 2 offseasons, we need to get a couple of more to get the right personnel

No, this is not a run oriented team or a pass happy offense, it is a group that hasn't played as a unit. You need good offense, defense and special teams play to win in this league and we always seem to be lacking in one area or another. The players need to focus better, no more dropped balls, missed tackles, fumbles, blocked kicks, missed assignments....you name it, this team has done everything to hurt itself the first six games. Even getting stupid penalties at crucial times has hurt them, it's time for the ball to bounce our way for once.

It's the square peg in the round hole. I complained about this defense being so darn complicated that the players are thinking too much and not reacting. Paralysis by overanalysis. As you pointed out it's not working. On offense we are way too conservative and there is no reason for it. At the end of the Jets game the playcalling should have taken us further downfield so Mares' kick would be shorter. We had a timeout we didn't use!!!! We could have taken a shot at the endzone to go for the win. Why were we thinking tie???? We should have been thinking win but again we're so afraid to make a mistake that we don't get the firstdown, we never do use the timeout and end up blowing the kick. That was a bad job by Mularkey and Saban and it's a huge reason why we lost the game.

the other thing saban could learn is knowing when to outthink the opposition and when to out smashmouth the opposition. the team is too cerebral and not primitive enough sometimes.

I dont think this to be the case. I'd love to see you explain how, though.

ANY coach could learn from Shula.
Not exactly an earth shattering statement.

Unfortunately the Dolphins have always been a finesse team. The last time we ever had any particular player that near "smashmouth" was Larry Czonka.

that's the team that made me a dolfan. its funny though, ronnie brown reminds me a little of the zonk. too bad the line in front of him doesnt remind me of 72

Seems to me that every player on the roster is a Saban's player....or they shouldn't be on the roster. The Dolphins problem is lack of TALENT...and that comes from the first round of the draft....right now we have two first round players selected by the Dolphins playing....TWO.

Saban Should Sit Down With Shula. He Is The Only Miami Coach With Sucess.

TONTO:

saban didnt build any defense in cleveland.

that was bill billichek. saban ws just his token
guy who kept track of play book and gatorade.

nick did NOT, in ANY WAY build that defense.

besides, its offense we need. lets see if he can
at least do that!!

Well said... Tom Jackson said it best about the Arizona Cardinals.... "Bad things seems to always happen against bad teams." Until the Dolphins stop executing like a bad team those bad things will keep reoccurring.

I agree but I'm still waiting for Saban to make the right decisions on the right personnel in the 2ndary i.e. Shulters/Tillman etc.

Don't get me wrong, coach seems to have vision, but these moves are puzzling. I mean, this is his area of expertise right?

Our Ss are incapable of making plays on the ball and are thinking too much back there.

FINSGONNAROCK:

what people are over looking is that indeed, shula was
a great coach, no doubt. but it all started going down
hill when don was made GM and had control over the
draft and personel.

when george young ran the show, we won superbowls
and the team was loaded with great players and coaches.

when don got control, it was TO MUCH [for any coach]
and the team began drafting bad and we hung on to
lame duck coaches like olivadotti.

george young went on to build a 2 time super bowl
winner with the giants.

the GM/COACH thing is a disaster, expecially for a
college coach. wayne sealed the teams fate [and
probably sabans] by giving in to this rediculous
demand by saban.

holmgren got the same deal in seattle and was damn
near run out of town. after he gave up the GM job,
the team almost over night became a super bowl team!

no coincidence there. mike had more time to coach and
less to worry about and answer for.

it killed shula and cost dan marino several superbowls.

and nick saban is dying a slow death before our very
eyes.

HIRE A GM WAYNE!!!!
