When they announced that Linehan had been hired by the Rams, I think Saban KNEW had had screwed up.

The biggest problem the Dolphins have this season started in January 2006 when Nick Saban allowed Scott Linehan to interview with the St. Louis Rams.

As I understand it, he was blindsided when the Rams actually hired the longshot candidate. It seemed Saban agreed because 1) it would make Scott happy, and be a reward for good work 2) It was good interview practise for future head coaching opportunities later, when Linehan had a reaql chance of being hired.

Then the Rams hired him and we lost our whole offense and any chance to carry last year's success into this year.

Even IF Mularkey were as good (which I do not think he is) the discruotion of a different man running your system, and having his own, different philosophies of playcalling means that even with the same plays, this is a radically differently run offense this year. Two chefs can use the same ingredients (the same playbook) and make TOTALLY different food.

Last year we had a chef who made exciting dishes to thrill our palate. This year we get boiled potatoes... and a small helping at that.

Saban screwed up. He was in his first full offseason with his coaching staff and he wasn't savvy enough to protect his most important coach.

Linehan was gone, everyone knew he had 2 years with us max. I figured he'd be gone after a year. He was a great OC, and had a lot of potential. I wish he had stayed, but everyone knew he was looking to move up.

last year we were not bad just didn't execute properly this year we are a joke and def.will have a top ten pic:boohoo:

Saban crippled himself...he's a horrible head coach and hopefully will be fired after a dismal 3-13 season in miami this year.

[mod] Keep the thread on topic - no smack talk in main. [/mod]

this isnt a smack forum man. if your going to talk senseless smack that even you dont believe, go to the depths.

You are not allowed to refuse interviews for jobs that are promotions for coaching staff.

If we had refused to allow our then OC an interview for a coaching job, all St. Louis would have to do is call the NFL front office and we'd not only have our butts straightened out real quick, but we'd look really dumb at the same time.

He was leaving, nothing to be done about it.

Dude i'm not talking smack....Saban is overrated, he's not a god....and he sure as heck isn't no savior. I don't care what any of you fin fans think but most knowledgable fans outside of south florida realize what I'm talking about.

Big deal you went 9-7 in his first year....Mike Mularky did the same, then went 5-11 and was fired....at this point I don't even see Saban having a 5 win season in 2006.

It was sad to lose Linehan, but things werent going good early last year with him either. He had to come down from the press box, and we won 6 in a row after we were essentially out of it. I don't think losing him is the cause of our problems, it goes deeper. Attitude of the holdovers, talent on OL, age on D.

i hate mularkey but linehan had some horrible play calls too. like the last drive of the pats game we lob it up three times in the sun and every time chambers is like i cant see.

I'm no expert but i'm fairly sure if they are interviewing for a Head coaching job that you cannot prevent the interview and potential hiring from happening.

No he was going to be fired anyway....Marv Levy knew he was an incompent moron trust me.

"Going to be fired" does not mean "fired." On what basis do you assert that Levy was going to fire Mularkey? Idol worship?
