Saban Defends Denney

This will be the first time I critique Nick in a negative way.

I think he is covering his own *** with this decision. He knows he was wrong cutting Ed Perry but does'nt want to admit it (in my opnion).

I just hope he is right about Denney and the guy does'nt cost us anymore then he already has.

Thats 2 on Denny so far. That snap was bad. I mean, bad. Once again, the Bills didnt win that game, we won the game for them.

I have no problem with this. We have to develop players for the future, not all will look good from the start. I gaurantee there will be some serious snaping practice this week.

Saban is dead wrong in his evaluation.I dont think he knew enough about Perry.

This is exactly the type of decision that bites people in the ***. I've seen it 100 times.

How old is Ed Perry?

He was born in 1974 so he should be 31. The more I am thinking about this the more I am wishing we had kept Ed and developed the young guy. Although if he hadnt cleared waivers....

Saban has said countless timess he is building this team FOR THE FUTURE. He even pointed it out in the PC that if it means going through some struggles early on than so be it.

Was it the right decision? Who knows, but again Saban has a plan. I say give him a chance to carry out that plan. The guy only has 4 games as a HC in the NFL. Give it time.

Saban can get defensive all he wants, he made a BAD decision... PERIOD!

This is what I was thinking with my first post, however you hate to mess with the kicking game. Particularly in the field goal dept. I think it is too early to say this was a bad move but when you are strugling as a team and you finaly have a chance to score some points you would like to be able to rely on you field goal unit.

how long were we realistically going to hang on to Perry? A few more years, dropping millions on a situational player? As much as I hate to see special teams stuff win and lose games, I'm with Saban when it comes to developing young players in transitional years like this one.

It hurts now, but we'll be in salary cap heaven real soon. If Denney doesn't pan out, then we can always address it in free agency. Frankly, we should always be working out long snappers just in case

I agree, every snapper makes bad snaps and this was his first. Hopefully it was a rookie mistake and if you are gonna get on Denney say the same things about rookie Brown fumbling in a huge spot. Denney will payoff down the road when he is just as reliable as Perry and making half as much..

I know this Kid John Denney. I went to highschool with him. I never though he would be an NFL player so this kid is living the dream right now even if it is as a long snapper. Give him some time. This team is being built for the future, plus he was cheaper then Perry. How much? Well not much at all but its part of building for the future, having money under the salary cap.

Another cool thing about sundays game was that John Denney was playing against his brother Ryan Denney. Ryan is a DE for the Bills, imagine being the mother of them two guys, who the hell do you root for

lets givie it some time boys, we have more important discussions like why did gus throw 3 interceptions, why didnt he throw a better ball on a deep pass to chambers when he was all alone and the pass sailed out of bounds 40 yds down field or how the offensive line didnt give up a sack all game untill the final 40 seconds and then bam bam 2 sacks in a row to end it or why hall of famer Jason Taylor was jumping offsides or why randy was taunting with under 5 minutes left in the game. There was so many critical errors in the game and we're focusing on a bad snap where the punter actually helped screw up when he had possesion then dropped it again.
