Wouldn't be much of a poll.
I think it would be about 80/20 w/ 80 disliking Madden.

you gotta like a coach that supports his players when someone from the outside is attaking them

That's what I was thinking.
It's kinda like the family thing.
You can call your brother or sister an idiot because your family but if anyone else does they are dead meat!

I thought Madden was right. Manny looked lazy out there because he's seriously out of shape relative to where he needs to be to play in the NFL. Madden never said he was flat out lazy, he always put it as the dude is way out of shape and thats why he looks like that...Michaels was trying to call him lazy and Madden disregarded that, said he looks out of shape and thats what makes you look lazy like that.

I agree, there was nothing wrong with what Madden said at all. I'm sure Saban is telling the kid the same thing behind closed doors. Even though Saban is more than likely being hard on him privately it is genious that he is defending him publicly. It shows me this guy has that uncanny knack of gaining a players trust while also keeping him in line.

He reads players well. Manny's the kind of guy that's going to work for you if he feels loyal to you. He felt loyal to Orgeron and that kept him from failing school earlier than he did, cuz Orgeron harped on him about his homework and grades.

Saban does have a knack for figuring out how to treat some players relative to others, who needs what, etc. In fact, I watched that interview tonight with Terrell Owens at half time and I thought to myself there's only two coaches in this league that can handle Terrell Owens. Bill Belichick, and Nick Saban. You would never see either coach ever tell Terrell to shut up or disrespect him like some kid. Yet, both are strong enough that Terrell would NEVER be able to walk all over them. I could always tell that something was going to happen between Reid and Owens.

I agree that Madden was right about Wright, but his comments were still unusually harsh for a TV commentator. I don't like Madden in general though (although he can put out one hell of a videogame).

I liked seeing Madden get harsh on a guy. He said it with the air of a coach who knows what he's talking about, not like those three dumb@sses on ESPN who say things with the air of idiots who are saying whatever pops into their heads that they think people want to hear.

It's funny to me this newfound ability to criticize that Joe Theismann and Paul McGuire have found. It's so obvious that Theismann is just taking a stand on players because he's been criticized for talking up every freaking player in the league. Now, I think it's even worst that he's caving to the pressure and criticizing the easy guys to criticize. I mean honestly, it's like hearing a politician say "And I want to put pedophiles who rape and murder children behind bars where they belong!!!" It's like...yeah, umm ok...I think we ALL do, so how about taking a stance on something original.

So Theismann's new targets are Ricky Williams and Terrell Owens. LOL. What a wimp.
