I have tremendous respect for Nick Saban: I think overall he's done a great job this season, but as we all know, the QB position is just killing this team. I, for one, am so happy to be even discussing the fact that we are only 1 game out of first and still have a legitimate chance for a decent season. But, since we are playing better this year, I can't ignore Gus.

I don't think Saban understands our desire to start Sage. Surely no one expects Sage to be a savior or even that much better than Gus. We're just hoping he's an improvement or even equal to Gus. At least by starting Sage we will know once and for all what Sage is truly capable of doing.

There is no future with Gus - he has never been more than a stop-gap. With Sage, he will either play horribly (in that case, we get rid of him next year), play decently (maybe he stays with us next year as a backup or future starter), or he plays well and competes for a starting job next year.

Sage has the strongest arm, throws more accurately than Gus, and is a very bright guy. He deserves a chance to prove himself.

I don't buy the argument that we have won games with Gus and came close several other games. The main reason we have lost so many games since the Denver game is Gus. He is very inaccurate and fails to come up with the plays we need to win. Teams are stacking the box against us (see Atlanta) and daring Gus to throw. He still can't deliver even under those circumstances with decent receivers and a much improved offensive line.

With Gus, we have no chance at the playoffs. With Sage, we may have a chance at not only the playoffs, but we will be able to determine what he can do which will help next season immensely.

Who is "our"?
Do you mean people and players within the Phins organization? Those are the only opinions that would matter. If so how on earth would you know their desires?

If "our" refers to Saban "not getting" fans desires.....

If that is what you mean than I'm glad that "Saban just dosen't get it"

Why would he care what the desires of a fan base are?
He's a proffessional coach and the day he starts making decisions based on what some couch potatos write on a message board is the day I would start worrying about him.

Hoping he's an improvement or equal to Gus equates to playoffs in WHAT way? I'm pretty sure a 6-10 team has never made the playoffs, and as i've said 1 million times with this team, no matter who is at QB we aren't going to be anywhere close to 500. let alone playoffs.....Our WR's are lousy, our secondary is lousy, our defense is over rated and for the majority lousy. Our backfield is inconsistent, we committ too many mistakes and penalties, our play calling is poor. Sage-Gus-Cleo-DAN MARINO who ever plays QB in the upcoming weeks is going to contibute to losing football games because we are a BAD team.

Well said. And honestly saban's little blame game calling out player "around"gus as the culprits is getting really old .He and linehan need to have a little pow wow and get our younger qb,s a CHANCE. Because Gus is just what he has always been ...A BACKUP! And whoever says that sage is not good enough to start, must realize that GUS has been a backup MUCH longer than Sage.If we were crazy enough to give him the keys to this team then how crazy would it be to try ANOTHER backup? This team needs a spark and this is a good way to do it.

You raise some interesting points, but do you believe, even for one second, that anyone on this (or any other board) has a better idea on how to manage the team then Saban does?

People that create threads like this one are living in their own little (self revolving) world. What in the hell makes any of you think you know better then the man running the team?!?

I'm sure Saban thinks he doesn't get it, as he is pulling into his 10 million dollar house.
