No he didnt take his team to the playoffs but he took a 4 win team from last year to a contender. This team sucked this year until Saban motivated his team like he always does and went from 3-7 at the beginning of the season to a 6 game win streak and a 9-7 record. He even has got Zach motivated players finally wants to stay with the team. If he aint coach of the year i think he is in the the top 3. Dungy Lewis and Saban.IMO

Saban will definitely be talked about as Coach of the Year. It was his first NFL head coaching year. And he did do exactly what you said.

For Dungy to win it, he will have to take the Colts to the Superbowl and win. Lewis has already done something remarkable by getting the Bengals into the playoffs. He may be the guy to edge out Saban. It will be close.

Lovie Smith...

but Saban should get votes...I gave him mine as a member of the Maxwell Club.

Huh? Is this an effort at revisionist history? Please identify, apparently, these numerous players who didn't want to stay with the team.

6 game win streak to close out the season with our schedule and and lack of talent in some positions is remarkable to not be in the NFL in years and take a team with 4 wins last year and a team that seemed to be falling apart to a 9 win season is awesome.

Sorry, but Lovie Smith deserves to be it more then any other coach. Saban would def be my 2nd choice after Smith.

saban will get consideration, but lovie smith turned a crap team around as well, and he might be able to take them all the way...

I agree Lovie Smith would be a great choice, but even though he has a 12-4 record it mostly came at the hands of his defense, which has been perennially good (didn't just come around this year). Also his offense did still stink this season showing some good spots. Yes, he deserves credit for what he's done but Saban has made an aging defense and the younger guys of the defense are not the best in the world and has got them playing pretty good, and he took a awful offense and made it decent at the end of the year. Saban as a first year coach did great, and this team was a laughing stock and now they are respectable again. I had questions about Saban earlier in the season, but I now feel like a fool. So no I don't believe Saban will win coach of the year, but he is definitely worthy.

Also I just wanna say that I hope the Dolphins aren't the 2004 Buffalo Bills, finishing hot and the next season falling apart, because don't forget Mike Mularkey was a rookie head coach last year too. So let's not proclaim the Dolphins as a dominating team for next year quite yet, although they do have the potential.

well...we don't have J.P. Losman so i think we're fine. ;)

I hate to say this but Lovie Smith hands down, this is not a real talented Bears team.

yeah but as of right now we have Frerotte, not much better, but yeah I see your poing on Losman. However, if the Dolphins just get aggressive for once in the off season and get a real long term QB, hopefully a little NFL seasoned (Culpepper, Rivers, Schaub, etc.), then we will have a great shot at domination.

other consideration Saban came from college hasnt been in the NFL in years Lovie came from a NFL team so that makes Saban look well to.
