Local media here in Chicago has been having a field day ripping Saban. All of the articles the last couple of days have been how lucky the Bears are that Nick didnt take the Bears job when it was offered to him in 04. Local radio and papers are making him out to be a laughing stock

Just a couple of guys opinions in one of the many cities in this country. Oh well

They are fortunate to be 7-0, b/c if they were the Bears of 5 years ago, they wouldn't be able to say a damn thing

my words exactly.

People are entitled to their opinion. Of course they would say that, since Lovie Smith has returned da Bears to glory whilst Nick Saban...yeah

Da Bears STILL havent won a damn thing under Lovie. Yea.. their good. But so are other teams. Grossman will let them down in the end. Mark my words.

If they were the Bears of 5 years ago....maybe they have Saban.

It's easy ripping a coach when his team is 1-6.....

But how about the Bears recent history??....

2004 5-11 0 4th
2003 7-9 0 3rd
2002 4-12 0 3rd
2000 5-11 0 5th
1999 6-10 0 5th
1998 4-12 0 5th
1997 4-12 0 5th
1996 7-9 0 3rd

Give Saban 7 more losing seasons, {and the draft picks they include}, and maybe we'll have a team as stocked as the Bears currently are. I'm not using that as an excuse, but one could certainly come to the conclusion that the Bears have had many more opportunities to re-stock / rebuild than the Phinz have over the years. It's showing now, and all of those years of losing are paying dividends in Chicago.....

Maybe Miami needs a few more losing seasons of their own before things start heading in the right direction. It's the nature of the business to a certain extent in my opinion. Many franchises rebuild, and eventually become contenders as a result of having multipule losing seasons, and then rebuilding through the draft{s}. It takes time, but when it's done correctly, it shows.....

Da Bears won the divison last year on the strength of their defense. They made it to the playoffs.

We didn't. Yeah, we were 9-7, but close only counts in horseshoes.

This year, da Bears are likely going to win the division again and make an even deeper run into the playoffs if not the Super Bowl. You see what Grossman is doing, he was playing like an MVP for a few weeks and has remained consistent in his results (except against the Cards). If Grossman turns into Glassman again, they have another (part) division winning quarterback in Brian Griese waiting in the wings.

Lovie > Nick right now, and it's a fact. The proof is in the pudding.

And BLITZ, da Bears went through several coaches during that losing tenure, with guys like DAVE WANNSTEDT and DICK JAURON. Their final losing season on that list in '04 was Lovie Smith's first year. Lovie was the one that ushered in the success there, because Jauron and Wanny sure as heck didn't.

Roasting the fins

In this day and age of free agency and salary caps...everyone has their up and down years because everyone has to rebuild at times(with the exception of the patriots). Just a couple years ago the Bears were 13-3, but got pounded in the playoffs, then they stunk a couple years and now are back to good form. We had a couple descent years, now we are rebuilding. Unfortunately thats just the way it works.

I agree with canadianfishfan....grossman will let them down.

Untill we start winning again we should EXPECT to be the laughing stock, including our coach. Give us 3-4 years and we'll be on top, but it may take that long.

Some are saying Saban is Spurrier II, so maybe that wouldnt be a bad thing? I dunno

Same applies for the Bengals. Same applies for the LA Clippers and Chicago Bulls. Heck my Spurs only got Tim Duncan b/c of our crap season when we won like 18 games b/c of D-Rob's injury.

I dont want to suck for 5 years but if it makes us GREAT then I guess we have to do it

give nick 10 years, he'll get this thing turned around. he has a plan!
