After the low point of the season... a lopsided loss to the Cleveland Browns, Nick Saban went on a hot streak.....

the miami dolphins won out the season....filling the Dolphins faithful with confidence for the upcoming season.....

While Nick Saban has the pedigree, one needs only look a little closer to see that his late season success doesn't mean instant success in 2006...

Of the last 6 wins of the season, 4 were against OAK, BUF, NYJ, and TEN...not exactly the cream of the crop..... another against the Patriots, at a time when they couldn't care less about winning....when you send Flutie out for the drop kick you aren't really trying.....

That leaves the sanDiego game.... a solid win.... but a sign of things to come?....possibly, but not likely.....

We are talking about a team that was a mere 3-7 going into a stretch of games that could breed a sense of self confidence that may not be worthy.....

If you take into account that the Pats could have easily won the finale, and the fact that Mike Mularkey (new OC of Miami) gift wrapped the win against Buffalo, the fins would have, and should have finished 7-9......

Perhaps Miami turned a corner last season....but any predictions of 11 wins, or an AFC East championship are WAY to premature at this point...... The Fins have yet to win a meaningful game under Nick Saban.....and are a long way from unseating New England as the class of the AFCE.

If there was a time to do it, it is now...the Jets and the Bills are in a transistion, and New England losing quality players every year.... but the title of genius, and unstoppable in 2006 when attributed to the Miami Dolphins based on there late season success against the basement of the NFL is unwarrented as of yet.

The Bills last year dominated teams late in the year. Scoring 36 points a game (mainly due to special teams and defensive forced turnovers) and giving up 16 points a game (That includes 32 points to the fins). That was a 7 game span which ended with a loss to the Steelers.

The Bills run was more impressive and everything just blew up the next year. We shoudl understand the excitement Dolphin fans are having right now, but we also know 1st hand that last year doesnt mean a single thing.

Ya, forget all about the wins over Denver and Carolina

Yeah but the Dolphins have a better head coach, probably a better QB (remember you went from Bledsoe to Losman/Holcomb so that might have been a part of your slide as well) especially if they get Brees. The entire offense is better than the Bills. Chambers > Evans Booker was pretty much as good as Moulds this year. McMike > Campbell (is that your TE still?) Dolphins O-line > Bills O-Line. Oh and R&R (Dont count on Ricky being suspended) are better than McGahee too.

The Dolphins went 9-7 with Gus Frerotte. What do you think they'll do with Drew Brees or Steve McNair?

Im a Bills fan that thinks the Dolphins have all the talent in the world.

I think every team is a QB away from being a contender, that is if they dont have one already.

What do you mean by that?

Moulds and Evans are a better tandem than Chambers and Booker. McGahee is better than either Miami back. The rest is true, though.

Right, because one of them made the Pro Bowl last year. And he happened to play for Miami. :rolleyes2

I don't know if he is better then Ricky, but he is better runner thin Ronnie as of right now.

So Chambers made one Pro Bowl, therefore he is better than Moulds or Evans. By that standard, Ruben Brown is one of the greatest guards to ever play in the NFL.

Fact is, Moulds is/was better than Chambers will ever be, and has 3 Pro Bowls to show for it. And Evans was better than Chambers in high school, at Wisconsin, and WILL be better than him in the NFL.

Considering one (Brees) had Pennington surgery and the other is patched up every week to get him on the field, I wouldnt be overly optimistic. They're both better than Frerotte, but they both are major question marks. The other one i've heard Dolfarts mention, Culpepper, has McGahee's injury and he wouldn't even be ready for the start of the season.
