Sometimes organizations have to take a few steps back before they can go forward. Everything that he represents and effuses to his players are what an organization needs to succeed. He is a great football coach and the people saying he should leave don't know that it takes more than 2 years to turn around a culture of mediocrity that has lasted 10 years. I will probably take 4 to 5 years to undue the damage that Johnson and Wanstedt inflicted on the team. Remeber how bad Wanstedt left the bears before joing the dolphins. Anyone who has heard nick speack know that this is a very intelligent calculating individual who communicates himself very well. The players are the problem not him. His only fault is the mistake that every coach thinks, and that is they really believe that they can turn mediocre athletes into great players. He should have never given wanstedts core all the opportunities that he has given them

i agree he will right this ship he just needs time & it won't happen overnight like we would like it to.

I have to agree, with the previous poster. I think last years great play was a bad thing. It created so many hopes that were unfounded, we all knew that Daunte was hurt seriously. We all knew that the secondary was bad, we all knew that Ricky was going to be gone. We all know that the defense is a year older, and that our two best players are in the twilight of their careers.

I am not surprised that the Dolphins are this bad. I am embarrased that they are this bad. I hope that most of us do not lost faith too soon. This is going to take a long time to right, and that is if most of our draft picks pan out. I want to see a championship back in Miami, but i am not going to be a raging Homer and proclaim greatness in the offseason.

Either you stick it out with the coach we were all dying to get, or go root for someone else. Gibe Nick five yearsm then if you are unhappy fire him. Just dont complain afterwards if he becomes successful somewhere else.

yea...although i think his approach has a flaws (like the obscene amount of coaches and assistants) I really dont want to turn into the redskins.

I heard on the radio (i live in maryland, AND LOVE WHEN THEY GET BEAT!! ITS HILARIOUS), that Snyder was placing gibbs on the hot seat, even though he just got there two years ago (i think, correct me if you care). I hate the need for instant success...life isnt a metaphor of fast food, much less success in the NFL.

You are absolutely right about that. We are no longer mediocre, we are the laughingstock of the league.

Good post, but now that this season has totally broken down, I want to see that hes getting a master plan together. I want to see him play the youngsters, work out a trade or two for some of our older players, stockpile draft picks, and then when the season ends he needs to get out the hatchet and start swinging.

If we are gonna rebuild, lets do it right. Start over, bring in young talent, and move forward. We cant let emotions stand in the way, if we have to cut or trade guys like ZT and JT so be it. Old vets who have lost steps dont help a team in desperate need of talent. And Saban mostly needs to suck it up and draft a QB. Cut CPep or trade him, let Joey start for one more year and get rid of him (ala Kitna and Carson Palmer), get some good young OLinemen (really spend some money here if needed. OLine is essential, especially with a new/young QB), and just generally add talent.

Yup, we've gone from Bad, to WORST.

Only problem

Wanstedt's last year, he signed alot of his core players to multiple year contracts. So getting rid of these playes will be difficult because they will hurt our already fragile salary cap structure. This is one of the reason that Saban can not go into FA to get some better players because we are paying out the nose for guys liek Chambers, McMichael, ZT, JT, Jeno James, Vernon Carey, Rex Hadnot, Mary "I get hur on every play" Booker, Keith Traylor. All these players absorb a tremendous portion of our salary cap.

a franchise gets turned around in 4 years,not in 2 or 3.

Look at seatle, how many years did it take holgrem to turn the franchise?
