Saban losing players' respect?

Saban ahs tried to help write out because he thinks that helping his players overcome issues is a positive for his football team. I don't see how anyone could take a negative out of that or lose respect over it. And I think Saban's reasons for not cutting Wright, at least not yet, are simple, and that's because Wright needs to understand that teams do not simply cut young players at a request.

It's PFT. That automatically makes it BS unless it's confirmed from more than one source.

I don't know that I believe this....it's probably something that was taken out of context and being made into something a lot bigger than it really is.

So, he's going to lose the respect of his players, because he gives a **** about a player who needs help. Wow.

Exactly. I would think he would gain respect if anything being that he backs his players no matter what troubles they have or what their name is. I think that this shows that he doesn't just go out of his way to make sure players are ok when they are only household names like Ricky Williams. He cares about the whole team. I would think that this would equate to players giving greater effort knowing that their coach has their back 100%.

Actually this isn't really new, there's been speculation that some of the locker room veterans are resentful of Saban's treatment of Manny Wright for a long time, and not just from PFT but from local Miami beat writers.

Where I think Florio has it wrong is this latest episode. Saban allowed Manny to take the leave of absence, however he talked plenty tough when Manny asked for a trade or release...and he's still talking tough.

I always look forward to your thoughts on this kinda stuff CK thanks.

so since coach saban actually gives a damn about his players he losing respect does this dude have any idea whaty hes talking about. Funny he hasnt mention the 192,000$ signing bounus manny wright got and that releasing him would meaning trying to recup that money which he obviously doesnt have since the team paid his rent

I find it hard to believe PFT on this when, a couple of stories below that Saban/Wright bit, is yet another "Favre press conference, Favre retiring, oh wait no he isn't we goofed up" series.

I wouldn't mind hearing so, either. It's as if you're an unlisted 'Phins employee.

The same writers or sports reporters, if thats what you want to call them that are trying to stir up a story about Saban losing respect would turn around and try to make a story about his lack of concern, feelings and caring if Saban handled Wright differently. I imagine these writers would label Saban cold hearted and ruthless if he kicked Wright to the curb and said it wasn't his problem, then they would say he is losing respect of his players for being that way. I imagine some of the Dolphins players and staff are kind of snsitive to the issue after RW's acknowleged emotional issues and his recent behavior even though its two different issues.
