I have tried to read most of the threads and I did not see this point brought up

On 3rd and goal we pass to Ronnie and he loses 5 yards with 45 seconds left on the clock

He then calls a timeout with 41 seconds left

Why did he not wait until 5 seconds were left on the clock????

If Chambers catches that ball we give Brady 35 seconds to get into field goal range. That was Herm Edwards clock mgmt

This is the first major mistake he has made in game mgmt which he talks a lot about

Remember, it was fourth and touchdown and it may have been smart to talk the play over on the sidelines.

he agrees that u take a time out he just means that if we had scored the pats would have had plenty of time to drive for the fg

That's a good point, but...

... if you get a pass interference call in the end zone on 4th down, you would want more than one play available on 1st-and-goal from the 1. That's the only reason I can think of not to let the clock run down before taking the timeout.

What if Chambers is interfered with and the ball is placed on the one yard line.

In you scenario there would be no time left on the clock and Miami would have the ball on the one with only one try.

By taking that TO if a defensive penalty occured Miami would have plenty of times to try for the score.

What does it matter, we didn't convert the 4th and goal anyway. If we had and then the pats had come back and drove for the field goal, it would make sense to contemplate this.

Yes take the timeout. We had 2 of them but why use it so quickly

Once again they should have called a timeout just not as soon as Ronnie was dusting himself off

Thats a good catch. Due to the interferance possibility he should have waited till there was about 20 seconds left.

Yeah, I didnt understand the statement. It made sense to let some time tick off the clock before calling that timeout.

It matters because you are assuming you will score and for the people talking about interference then call the timeout with 20 seconds left not 41.

It was a bad decision by Saban and one I hope he will not do again

Stop with this non-sense so what "if" this and "if" that it took NE "43" seconds to score from like 80 yards out after Miami went up late in the 4th quarter doesnt anyone at this board get it?

MIAMI SUCKS- and it kills me to say that week after week for 20 years I have had this freakin team break my hart with big game lose after big game lose.....at this point I just dont care anymore.

You have to worry about your offense scoring as the priority in this situation. As a fan we usually have the luxury of thinking of this type of thing because we assume our team should score, but its a lot more tough than it looks.

What if you start a thread about how hurt you are??

You already did so why the need to say the same thing over here.

Yes we are all upset about the loss I was just pointing a situation that was not discussed yet

Good point here too, I was COMPLETELY in agreeance with the original poster, but this makes sense too.
