If was just stated on the NFL Network that someone in Saban's camp may have expressed interest in the Alabama job if it became open. This was done before Mike Shula was fired.

His agent contacted Alabama and a few other schools in November

Hank Goldberg reported this for ESPN. There's a video on espn.com about this.

I also heard through the grapevine that Saban`s interest in Alabama WAS the reason Shula got fired. No,I dont have a link its just something I heard on a radio station here in NY from an Alabama fan. He stated Sabans name was brought up on campus BEFORE Shula was even fired.

Not true. Shula would have been retained if he had fired 2 assistants that should have never been hired in the first place.

Maybe so, but why was Sabans name even discussed in Alabama while Shula was still their coach?

It really wasn't. Saban agent called Alabama and a few other schools to see if there was interest. Happens every year. Its just an agent doing his job.

After the Rodriguez debacle Alabama called back to see if Saban actually was interested and he was.
