Saban & Mcmicheal

didnt read the whole thread.....might have been said already

but

the guy is a physical monster......if he was a "wife beater" then she would be in the hospital right now

this is how i could possibly see it as having happened

-They have an argument in the car while driving home after shopping, wife says "pull over im getting out"
-randy pulls over, wife gets out and starts yelling and kicking the car
-randy doesnt want car dented, he pushes her away from car
-wife fights against him and tries to kick car some more, dropping her shopping bag
-randy pushes her away and throws the shopping bag at her

thats just as likely as him just hitting her for no reason.....

I didn't read the entire thread, so forgive me if this is repetitive: wouldn't you think this issue has everything to do with football if it happened during the season? It's already going to impact training camp, if for no other reason than the distraction.

Some statement needs to be made.
at this point, no consequences involving his vocation should take place. whether it's his "second offense" or not, it all comes downs to what it appears to be after it passes through the digestive system of the judicial process. this could come out looking like a domestic argument with no intentional battery /assault. the "victim's" statement, according to what i've read tagged the contact as accidental. this is not to say that the guy doesn't have problems and needs to address these problems before it ends up being another irving fryar deal or for pete's sake, a jon bobbitt. now that would be a distraction to dolphin football. at this point it is not a football issue. this will slide and no charges will be brought against mc michael. it's his spiuse and i'm assuming that both of them are ignorant. they should publically announce their participation in marriage cousneling, with no mention of RM's need for anger management. the blood from her lip could have been accidental. at this time no nfl action, within dolphins as well. people have rights to privacy even when involved in a public incident. it is our circus ground but their marriage.

OK, but why is it the responsibility of a professional football team to make a social statement?

Yes, although it is not done enough. But I really believe that the social statement often benefits the team long term as I said on page 7 of this thread. Too bad many organizations are too short sighted to see the long term benefits of standing up to players who need it. I'm not saying McMike needs to be stood up to, I don't really know about his attitude. He seems to give his all to the team so I think he just needs help. Discipline in the form of a suspension (not terribly long but a few games) along with some real counselling that a pro sports team has access to for pro athletes, could help. What else can you do besides ignore it until it happens again and again until finally the team has had enough and trades or cuts the guy. How does that help him or his family?

The guy has an issue with hitting his wife- it's the second time he's done it. Whether he lightly slaps her or beats her within an inch of her life doesn't really matter to me. YOU DON'T HIT WOMEN. PERIOD. END OF STORY.

I can see you've never been involved with an abusive chick. I have and I've never hit another woman in my life but that biotch. I couldn't help it but, when a chick punches your a$$ in the mouth while your driving down the road then you stop and she does it again and won't quit. WHAT DO YOU DO??????

You know, that's a toucht subject. I think in McMike's case he is probably big and strong enough to physically contain his wife without a shot to the face. I guess if you have a strong woman coming at you who is going beserk, you have less options, but I doubt McMike was just defending himself. It would have been anger at that point I think. Unless she's 6-4 and 240 as well.

I agree he's a big guy but, I'm 6'2 215 and the chick I was with was like 5'4 120 and she wore a ton of gold rings and bracelets and was relentless. It was a tough situation and it seems that McMike girl may be the same way. None of these guys bashing him can say anything unless you've been in a relationship like that because THEY DO NOT KNOW.

The issue is not whether it is directly related to football or that we're ok with wife-beating. It is simply that his history now makes him a riskier player to rely on. Boston is not on a short leash because anybody cares about airport gate agents or the right or wrong of steroids- it is because he is a risk to have a melt down or test positive. McMichael is now becoming one of those risky players to have on your team.

You can bet that both Ricky and Boston will end up with contracts that allow us to dump them cheaply at the first sign of trouble. I think McMike has earned a similar clause. And BTW, your boss would consider it detrimental to your job if he thought there was a reasonable chance you would be unavailable due to jail/court/etc. when he needed you.
we have to narrow the scope to RM's situation and it, only. it does not involve steroids which is illegal to use if you are an NFL player.
from a professional football view or standpoint, whichever .... your first objective is to keep your player, protect him, support him even. if we inflate the focus or scope of what allegedly took place outside of the football universe, it will become open to personal opinion. consider yourself an NFL juror. is RM guilty of any football law here?
the only thing i can see going aganst him is the NFL imposing any sort of penalty in order to protect / upkeep their own reputation but even with this in mind, it is way too early to talk punishment or anything of the sort. it is not a football issue. you can addd anything to something and reshape it into whatever you want it to be but it still remains what it is.

we'd like to assume that he handed her the cardboard (shopping bag?) without possessing intention to cause physical injury / harm.

I've seen 160 pound guys beat the crap out of 240 pound guys, and I've seen women who are very good with their fists, and even better with their claws.

Being a women doesn't give her or any other women the right to physically attack a man, unless she is defending herself.

The bottomline is if you choose to physically attack someone else you open yourself up to what might happen back to you as a result.

We don't know all the facts yet, so I will wait to make a judgement on Randy until we do.

If nothing else, this could have a negative consequence for Randy when he starts to negotiate with the team for his new mega-bucks contract. Until now, he's been playing under his rookie contract and it's a low one at that since he was only a fourth-round pick. Randy's stupidity/problems probably cost him some cash...but I agree that some type of disciplinary action will probably be taken by the team if he is found guilty...even though this is "just" a misdemeanor.

she doesnt have to have 2 black eyes and bruises all over her body to be consitered beating your wife.

a simple punch to the face or quck shot to the kidneys is enough to be called a "wife beater".

in this case, throwing something at her face.
