Saban needs to control his media mouth

I'm so sick and tired of this c**p!! We haven't even started the season and we're already bashing Saban for one thing or another. I'm sure he's going to make mistakes every now and then. Why don't we just wait and see what transpires between now and the end of the season. As one poster so eloquently stated, I think he knows what he's doing. It's all quite calculated.

Rather Bill Parcellsian. (?)

.............. but not for a 7th round draftee and a 5th round supplemental draftee. I could understand if we had drafted Marcus Spears in the 1st round and Saban used that tactic on him.

When Saban was saying that he was not talking about anyone in particular. It was only when the media pressed for names that he called out those 2. IMO, they need to be called out. They have a golden opportunity with this team and neither of them has responded the way Shaw has. What bothers me most is that neither of them seem to realize the opportunity they have in front of them. I think that's what pissed Nick off too. We know Manny is a project and as much as 2 years away from being a player. But compete, show some damn fire, make a play a tackle, something!!

According to whom? Kevin Carter, Vickerson's teammate in the trenches, seems to think they guy is playing great and obviously thought opposite of Manny. Yet Saban lumped the two together, illegitimately it appears.

I think he knows what he's doing. Sometimes you've got to light a public fire under a guy to get him moving. Remember Parcells referring to Terry Glenn as "she"? Now THAT was classic!

Terry Glenn was never a "developmental" player..........and that's my point.

Regardless. They're NFL football players.

If they're not man enough to take those really harmless words that Saban said then they're not man enough to play in the NFL. Period, end of story.

Besides, enig ... you've never struck as a guy who endorses a kid gloves mentality, anyway.

Why's that? Because of the Ricky thing? Ricky's not "developmental" talent. Ricky was a first round draftee.......... I'm talking about not slamming players in the media who are of the stature of a Vickerson and Wright. If everything is supposed to remain family and internal, Saban surely isn't keeping it that way with these two and I just don't agree with it. Surely this "mastermind" Saban is supposed to be can come up with some other constructive plan to light the fire under these two.

Whoa ....................slow down................. I'm not here bashing, calling Saban names............I am allowed to disagree with this particular tactic of his.

No. It's nice to think that though........... the NFL is no perfect science like that.

It's all psycological man: nfl=90% mental, if you don't get then I dun know what... to... tell.... ya.... Thier cherries gotta break sooner or later.. Saban is just trying to make it happen sooner. It's not like he said something that wasn't true anyway.

these... guys...may .. not... even make the team.

Saban should have the right how he is talking to the media, and i like how he is doing it. If some guys aren't doing there job, then they shouldn't be the only ones who know that. Hopefully now both of them will work harder.

I agree with Dr. Z. Saban is very calculated. He thinks that this is what these two need -- either to excel or make them drop off. He thinks that if they can't handle this humility, they can't handle being on his football team.

I think what a lot of you are missing is this. Saban doesn't give a damn if you are a #1 overall pick or the very last pick of the draft. He expects the same from everyone in terms of work ethic and commitment.

I have a feeling that what it has done is kicked Vickerson into gear. Look at what Kevin Carter is saying about the guy.

IMHO, he knows exactly what he is doing. If you remember the earlier incident with Wright, his father said he needed some kind of motivation to get going.
