Madison got it all wrong with Shefter about Saban. Of course, when Saban is teaching, people should naturally be on edge.

The more I listen to Saban the more I think we have had a gameplan in place for the Jets for about 4 weeks now. He is talking very calmly and in control very early in the season. He is so much in control of the whole situation. I dont think he would be so easygoing at this point if things werent in place.

I think we are going to run some special plays on O and D is bringing the heat.

I agree, I didn't like the non-verbal cues and reactions of Madison in that interview. He came across as someone who was second guessing....or worse yet, somewhat who didn't like the fact that his "boss" was so closely scrutinizing him.

Zach and JT on board, I believe, but any future article that involves Sam I am going to have to believe they are lumping him in by association.

im not following what you guys are trying to say, friction between madison and saban?

You just had to see Schefter asking Sam the questions....Sam didn't have much to say because you could tell the gears were moving in his head to watch himself.

Sam knows theres a good chance hes gone after this year. That is why hes under a scope this season because the money he gets paid the question about his age and falling off.

I think people are jumping to conclusions. I saw the interview and Sam was buying into the "tough love" that Saban brings. Saban wants his players to go to the next level where he doesn't have to push them. Saban wants his players to be self starters and show consistent high level play from week to week.

When Poole comes back next season with Howard and Daniels, its probably a possibility Madison will be traded. I hope not but you never know.

Out with the old and in with the new. The youngsters will be coming up next year and we will see what we shall see. If Madison continues to play at his current high level, I think he will be back next year. He brings a lot to the table and the possibility of reducing his cap number in a renegotiation is always there. I like the way Saban is working with the talent he has got. Zach, Sam and JT are all great players. Nick Saban likes great football players. Cheers, Zed:goof:

I'll tell you what I see and what I don't ...

I see Madison as his typical self, but much more focused ... same as Junior.

I don't see Madison or Jr. bewildered or figety.

The respect between Coach Saban and Madison is mutual as it is for the rest of the team members.

The only one member to leave (that I remember) is Surtain, and I think there may have been some friction there.

But getting back to that transcript, watching what I can see (facial expressions, eyes, hand movements), I saw nothing there to make me believe that there's any paranoya or friction between Madison and Saban.

If anything, I think Madison/Junior were a little ticked that the media is always trying to get them to mis-que and then exploit it.

Oh yea .... da J-E-T-S are gonna be ... :0wned:

did you forget how much howard is being paid? and that he almost lost his starting job? or how about that article a few weeks back saying this is probably howards last season. if anything, i think howard will be cut and madison forced to take a small paycut...they need his leadership among the young guys though.

Madison will be here next season. With all the rewrites to his contract it doesn't make sense to let him go in the offseason. In fact it's been rewritten so many times I wouldn't be surprised if we would still be taking a net loss to the cap at that point. They would at least keep him through next year to gauge Poole's development and/or another CB draftee.

I think Surtain leaving had nothing to do with friction, and everything to do with the salary cap.

i can understand the conflict. saban is asking him to do things he a) doesnt want to do or b) cant do-read: tackle

madison knows saban wants versatitlity in all his players and doesnt want to spend a lot of money on a guy who can only do one thing vs. paying a guy less money who can do two things

Madison has been on a free pass with the coaching staff for a long time now. For the first time he not only has to prove himself to the coaches, but the head coach as well. He also has to submit to being taught how to play the position he considers himself an expert at. I am sure it is a little uncomfortable at first, but WHEN the coaching staff proves to him and everyone else that they know how to win it will all become a good method of coaching.
