if Saban is not confortable with Sage as a Starter at this point of the season, then Sage should not be on the secound team or not be on the roster. Very simple

What?

So if he is not good enough to start he shouldn't be a backup? That doesn't make much sense.
I think he was trying to say if he can't beat out Gus (who isn't a true starter) for starter, why are we keeping him on our team? I don't see how its possible to be worse than Gus, so its a moot point.

If Gus gets injured on the first game of the season. what is plan B

it does make sense...wahts the point of osmeone as a backup if the starter gets injured and the backup can't do anything? if sage isn't capable of it, why on gods green earth is he a 2 and second on the roster? To say, hey guys, we have a NEW number 2 qb?

I think the purpose of a backup is that he has the ability to play well in short periods of time, which is what we're seeing with Gus. I have absolutely no problem with Sage being the backup, he probably will never be a legitimate NFL starter but neither will most backups.

Ah, I see. But I think it should be noted that Sage is meant as a backup. Gus is not meant to be a starter in this league. He is simply meant to be a solid vetern backup. I think this decision comes down to the fact Gus knows the offense from being with Linehan before and that is what gave him the unfair advantage over Feeley in camp and against Sage now.

Whoa people. The argument is because a backup can't be a starter he should be cut? There would be a ton of backups out a job tomorrow if that happened. The reason they ARE backups is because someone is better then them. Right now, for us, that person is Gus.

DJ, why would you say that Sage probably will never be a legitimate NFL starter. If Sage has not played in regular Season games.

It makes sense to stay with Gus, for now. I am actually hoping that Gus has a breakout performance this Sunday. After all they went through with Hurricane Wilma, it would be nice to see them win and have a great game.

Having said that, if Gus does not play well and Miami loses, it will further develop the case for starting Sage. But we will have to wait and see what happens. I'm hoping that the whole team plays well. GO FINS!!

Probably because he will never get the chance.

Sage had one start, against the Ravens D, which last year could make mincemeat out of the finest QB's in the league. I hope he gets a chance to start because he has the potential. But he's a decent backup for now.
