Well, Saban held his first press conference of training camp. He got things kickstarted with his usual look of disdain for the media. He had good things to say about Daunte AND Joey. Although, I kind of took it that he threw Joey into the mix to squelch any questions from the media on how he felt about him.

Relative count stands at 11. He started off slow with the "relatives." He really picked up steam around the 11 minute mark when he fired off three quick relatives in a row. He was clearly in the zone at that point. He even channeled Wannstedt for a minute and tossed in a couple of "standpoints."

As of right now, he is on a pace to drop a "relative" every 81.8 seconds.

I get the feeling that he is upset over the Jason Allen fiasco. Especially when you consider Wayne's position on the matter. He basically put the media on notice to not ask any questions in regards to that sunject.

Seems to be high on Bennie Anderson, who was not at camp today (personal issues). Also talked highly of Hadnot. He didn't really mention anyone else by name relative (!) to the offensive line.

All in all, a nice opening training camp p.c. I am sure he will get himself into better shape in about a week to get those reltives up, but a solid start.

I noticed he said his expectations for Will Poole to know the defense and the technic that he is suppose to use is higher then what he actually knows. He was downing him but it sounds like he is a little behind.

Good point. He did seem to be down on Will Poole as well.

Great report, LOL  I'm sure it will get interesting as we head into Week1, pinning him down on who's the starting QB. Relatively speaking!

Did you catch a few "aaariight"s in there?
