It looks like Nick Saban uses Reverse Psychology, think about it, He said that hes don't care about winning this year and hes playing for the future and bam he gets a 4 game winning streak right after getting criticize. He also says that we have Decent Receivers and Chambers takes offence and he turned his season around, He had 30 Catches with 417 yards and 3 TD before Saban said that and after he got 42 Catches with 575 yards and 6 TD, People were critical at first and now slowly its all coming together,

also a side note its almost a year since we got Saban as hour head coach, its goona be a fun couple of years to come

why post if u dont contribute to the thread?:shakeno:

I dont think he ever said he was not interested in winning, he just said that whats really important is the next play and concentrating on your job and forget the rest and everything will fall into place.

The only serious psychology that Saban laid down is to have Linehan move to the sideline to communicate with the players. Thats when everything turned around.

I dont really think its reverse phycology, but really more just telling the guys they need to step up

I agree with your post 100% ever since Linehan has been on the sidelines it seems our offense has been a lot better.

Perhaps he was seeing too many players stressing over W's... so instead of badgering them with the "execute" line which wasnt completely working... he figured.. lets take away the stress.. dont worry about winning... lets just play ball the way we need to.

kind of like a parent telling their kids that their letter grade isnt important.. just put in the time and study.. knowing that more than likely they will get the good letter grade anyhow..

sometimes fear doesnt work.. the players might have been feeling fear over not winning.. pulling them even further down.

dont forget.. allot of them played for wanny. :\

Hey man, I certainly agree with your sentiment, absolutely.

Just wanted to point out that, though effective psychology, neither of your examples are actually reverse psychology, specifically.

His press conference winning quotes were misconstrued and twisted beyond recognition. He was not saying "Don't win!", he was saying the process is what is most important.

And the "decent" label he threw on our recievers was actually very direct, not reverse at all. They were playing, optimistically, "decent".

Reverse psychology would be him saying "Chris, I really don't want you to catch that ball. Please drop passes."

Anyway, like I said, I agree with your sentiment.

Why people misquote saban about those comments still is beyond me.

Find where he said 'winning doesn't matter' he said RESULTS dont matter in the PROCESS, and specifically in decision making.

Saban didn't mention "winning."
