Saban should talk to Shula about all of the Penalties ... I am sure he could help him, after all his teams always lead the league on the least amount for years... Just a thought!

Saban is his own coach. Lets see how he deals with things first before we recommend advice from another coach, a great one, but another coach with his own philosophies.

I was thinking the same thing..I heard Joe Rose the other morning comment how Shula would have never put up with these dumb penalties. One thing is for sure Shula's temas were always disiplined. This team so far has not showned that at all.

The reason I say he should talk to Shula is because he said he wasn't sure of what he was going to do about it.

And yes I too believe he is his own man, but lets face it everyone needs anothers input from time to time...

And I seem to remember that Bill Belichick used to ask for Saban's imput when he was at LSU from time to time.

Sure Saban is his own coach but why not tap a resource like a HOF coach? I would definitely give him a call. I don't think Saban is so proud he wouldn't accept some advice from one of the best coaches ever.

Wasn't Shula also on the "Rules Committee?" Not that that should've or would've made a difference.

My thoughts exactly. Saban is smart enough that he might very well do exactly that. Not sure what Shula did but he was well known for always having the team w/ the fewest penalties.

It's a different ERA, players are not the same bread as they once were, they are now overpaid babys who you have to be carefull with, its the world we live in!:shakeno:

It's true that Shula is a traditionalist when it come to football, maybe a dying breed, but he insisted on teaching the fundamentals and that the players played accordingly. These lapses, poor tackling, turnovers, and penalities are hurting the whole team, whether it is a few or many players. I am very happy with the new coaching staff and direction they are heading, but everybody needs help sometime in their career, and Saban is not perfect. If Saban likes to win as much as we do, then he better come up with some answers, because we are getting worse with the penalities with every game.

That had a lot to do with it.
