SABAN THE GM

He did trade a 5th for Manny Wright

6TH for Cleo

5TH for Harrington

And of course the 2nd for CPEP.

None of these trades have worked out at all!

Two drafts = two starters! thats it in a nutshell

Throw in 5years of WANNY Trades and Drafts and now you see the results of our current aging roster

Manny might come back this year and it wasn't a trade.

What's wrong with Cleo for a 6th? Same with Joey?

C-Pep may turn out to be a great trade.

In fairness, I think he gets an incomplete for now. A lot of the younger guys seem to have potential, but if they aren't able to take over starting positions by '08 I am willing to say Saban was not a great personnel evaluator. Even with C-Pep he gets an incomplete, and Harrington was a necessity when coupled with the C-Pep acquisition. I think the next couple of years will give us a good idea of how Saban fared as GM.

Like I have said before it is too early to tell how our draft picks will pan out or what will happen with Culpepper and Lemon.

Cpep might still work out as might Cleo... But in general, you're absolutely right, he blew it with Brees, didn't draft anyone at least at first glance last year who will be a factor on our team except for perhaps one of the later round Defensive tackles. He sucked as a GM...

How bout trading away Pat Surtain and cutting Sam Madison.

Mr. GM/DB Coach Satan how many Int did our DB get this year. A total of 5. Surtain and Madison each get 5 int by themselves. This is what really hurt us. Now we have to spend high draft picks to try to recoup this type of talent. So far not so good with Jason Allen.

We got roth on the surtain trade basically, that could turn out to be a plus. I think Cleo for a 6th is a great deal.

Joey for a 5th was worth the risk, but didn't pan out.
We will have to see on Culpepper.

He's ok but no way a top DE like surtain was as a DB. When you have the advantage of Jason Taylor on the other side you should have success.

Watching the playoffs, Giants vs. Eagles. I wonder at times who evaluated free agents Qb's for Saban, Garcia for the Eagles would have been a nice pick up, he played on a winning team, went to the pro bowl and wouldn't have cost us a pick. With that said, overall Saban's record as a player evaluator seems to come into a bigger light now that he has gone. From his in ability to pick a position for Allen to his choices in free agency.

Not saying a 5th rd pick would have turned into a star, but a more reliable QB would have been a plus and Garcia would have given us a better chance.

Saban is gutless and classless. He places blame on others to make himself look better.

Sam Madison is a shadow of his former self. He's not very good in coverage, and wasn't in his last several years in Miami. Unfortunately, he had a huge contract. And this huge contract is why we had to trade Surtain. We couldn't afford both. And the way Madison's contract was structured, we couldn't cut him without taking a huge cap hit. Personnel decisions are not cut and dried, you have to consider the salary cap situation.

And technically, Saban was never our GM. Randy Mueller has been the GM. Unfortunately, Saban had the power over the GM.
