Saban thinking playoffs...

Well we have no credible confirmed report that he is trying to sign Simon, we have no QB, and the OLine has looked good one game out of three.

Forgive me if I am not buying my playoff tickets yet.

I don't see any QB on the current roster doing that. The QB that takes us to the next level is NOT on this roster yet.

I agree with the QB thing. BUT, we haven't had a QB on the roster with the ability to take us to the next level since Marino retired. But we HAVE made the playoffs without him. (If we can do it with Fiedler, we can do it with the 2 we have now)

I definitely do not think that Nick Saban is rebuilding this team as much as he is retooling and I really do think that he has playoffs on his mind this year no doubt. I also do personally feel that playoffs are definitely starting to become more and more realistic each day and that we really do have a legitimate shot at a playoff run. I've been thinking 7-9 wins for a few months now but I wouldn't count out a possible 9-7 or 10-6 playoff birth. I know this is a rookie coaches first year and our new coaching staff's first year and we have a lot of new personnel on the coaching staff and player but I really don't think it's that much of a longshot as it may have seemed after last season. And also looking back at the title of this thread, "Saban thinking playoffs...". You really shouldn't be a Head Coach in the NFL if you don't go into the season thinking playoffs. Simple as that.

Hmmm, strong Defense, strong running game, no real QB, superbowl aspirations.....sounds familiar to me. Tampa, Baltimore, Pats....

Funny how Tampa Bay won a SB with a QB was a pro bowler that season, and Tom Brady is a HOF, but if they're not real QB's, I wanna know who is.

Signing older veterans to short term contracts is a sign that although he is building the team for the future he is also making sure that they are competitive in the present.
