Saban will throw caution to wind in season opener

Interesting. If Saban stays true to that statement, win or lose, I'm going to enjoy his tenure with the Dolphins. Hopefully what he's talking about is alot of trick plays and more importantly going with four and five receiver sets, spreading out the Bronco secondary. Strategically that, I believe is the best chance for us winning. On paper, we are outmatched. But a gutsy and bold gameplan might be enough to swing the game in our favor if the execution is there. If he's looking to go with a traditional long passing game ala Minnesota, we are dead. Gus will never get the additional second or two of protection he needs against the Bronco defensive line and linebackers. I cant wait to see what we have in my mind for Denver this Sunday. Great thread. That's the first bit of news I've heard this week that gives me hope we might be in it at the end

The problem hasn't been the o-line, Gus holds onto the ball too long and doesn't hit open recievers.

That's a good point. I would add however, that even though it looks like we improved a little on the offensive line, it still isnt enough to get excited about. Now it may be that its too early in the season to expect a better performance. I expect that the o-line will improve as the season wears on but I do believe we'll be starting from a 25th best to 28th best offensive line. Hopefully we get to top 20 by the time the season ends. That in my mind would be very exciting heading into 2006.

Additionally, I think many people underestimate how much better the Denver Broncos defensive line has gotten. People dismiss the Browns pickups but anyone who watched them this preseason or watched the Browns last season knows that these guys are much improved. Add Engelberger and a healthy Pryce and the 3 LBS and you have a very dangerous front seven.

Unfortunately for the Dolphins, we are probably starting the season against three playoff bound teams. Its a hell of a way to start a new regime but that's the way it is, no use crying about it (unless you're Manuel Wright).

I won't look for wins as much as signs that we are on the road to recovery.

It's so refreshing to see Saban take that approach after the last 2 stooges and their run, run, run, punt offensvive philosophy.

It's a new era in Dolphins history. Saban has nothing to lose this season. He needs to throw caution to the wind!

Are you serious? I mean, gus has yet to hit open recievers deep on a consistant basis no doubt. But to write of the Oline as not a prob tells me that your not paying attention.

The o-line has been the problem since the late 90's.
